“Great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

My husband and I stayed here for a week. We got a room facing the golf course and it is clean and large. Service was good too. The water in the shower was weak and also the power of the hair dryer was weak. We told the hotel and they got the problems fixed within one day. Overall a nice experience, although not top notch!

Room Tip: Rooms not facing the ocean have nice resort views that are not bad as well!

It's a 4 star hotel and priced as such, so beware the hidden extra $25 a night charge for the "resort fee" - this covers things that you would simply expect to be included in the room fee already, such as "2 bottles of water" (not actually included unless you request), free wifi (included free of charge in McDonalds and 2 star hotels in Indonesia), "use of the in room safe" - really?!?!?

Room Tip: It claims it have free wifi, but really it's an additional compulsory charge

I stayed a week here alone! I had a serene room with balcony facing the pool and ocean. There were numerous exotic plant life everywhere! Just gorgeous! Felt so relaxed on my patio. The rooms are so well maintained & beds here R to die for! I love Hyatt's beds. The huge lobby has lovely parrots sitting around! The beach is nice, but swimming is not the best. Very rocky area. I had to walk the beach down to the Shereton to find a wonderful swimming area. Many shops along the beach, so nice!
Large rooms, wonderful resort.

Room Tip: Not great for swimming directly in the front of resort. ,rooms next to the pool have jungle floweri...

This hotel is clearly beautiful and dramatic. And enormous! The provided maps are totally necessary. Setting is stunning. Pools are gorgeous. Staff is friendly and very helpful. So what's to quibble about? Our bathroom needed a deep cleaning after I spotted a layer of dirt on the tiles near the floor.....and someone else's long hair. My husband noted that the bed was remade with a tissue under the blanket. Sitting in a lobby one afternoon I noted that the table was very dusty and hadn't been cleaned in quite a while. Etc. And those breakfasts: at about $27. each for the buffet .....quality was missing. Store bought breads. Scrambled eggs that were dry, cold and tasteless. Nothing at all special. And if you wanted to have pancakes you needed to be prepared to pay $17. I kid you not! So, it's a mixed bag at the Hyatt but far from perfect. Having stayed recently at the Park Hyatt Vienna, it's clear that the housekeeping, food service and ambiance at the Lahaina property has a way to go to be in the same league as the Vienna property.

One important tip, at checkin they told us there would be a $25. /day resort fee. When we balked they removed it immediately!

Just spent 5 nights at the Hyatt Regency in Maui. The hotel property is stunning and kept immaculately. The hotel staff was attentive, professional and extremely competent. The food at all the restaurants was outstanding. They offer many shops in the hotel covering the range of resort/beach clothing, jewelery and sundries. It's just a short 15 minute walk down the beachfront walkway to Whaler's Village, which offers more choices for dining and shopping. The pools are magnificient and all is well done and well tended. I would highly recommend this resort.

A bad experience some years ago kept us away from this hotel but recently joining the Hyatt program and being a Diamond Member we decided to give it another try.
What a difference between two experiences can be. Our first visit was horrible. We were treated badly, had a lousy room with a view of a tree, heard construction, and vowed never to return.
This time we were ushered into a magnificent room with stunning views of the ocean and extraordinary service and courtesy. Wonderful bathrooms, spacious rooms with subtle but excellent décor made it is as good as any hotel anywhere. It is not cheap. In fact it is breathtakingly expensive but when everything goes well it is worth it. Just make sure you get a room with a view of the ocean otherwise you are paying for nothing special. This is a long hotel with rooms that face every which way including that dreaded tree. Make sure you know where you will be.. then it will be wonderful.

We went with a group of our friends from the UK. Great to escape the grey clouds of London. We will come again surely as we all consider Maui our second home.

Mahalo!

We spent 5 nights at the Hyatt Regency Resort in Maui. It was outstanding in every way. We had a deluxe room with an ocean view. We had breakfast included. Breakfast is a wonderful buffet with many selections of quality food. I am very health-conscious and I found many delicious choices. The setting of the restaurant is beautiful - overlooking a pool with swans and birds. I couldn't ask for more. My husband and I did a couple's massage on the beach - a terrific experience. There is a path to walk along the beachfront or you can take a long walk on the beach. We ate at Japengo and S'onz steakhouse - both excellent! We did the cliff walk from the hotel - a great hike with awesome views. We did the luau, which was fun - very good food and typical Hawaiian luau entertainment. We had read some negative reviews about this hotel and we didn't find anything to complain about. On the contrary, our stay was perfect in every way.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a deluxe room with an ocean view. It is totally worth it!
