“Best place for breakfast after an early rise to watch the Haleakala Sunrise!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013 via mobile

Nice place and view for breakfast after a Haleakala sunrise!! Big servings on pancakes and yummy omelet!!! Worth making a stop especially if you are planning a long day ahead. It wasnt too pricey too so it was well worth it

Stayed 2 nights in the Elima Room for easy access to watch the sunrise on Haleakala. The atmosphere is quite different than on the coast, sunny and mild with occasional showers and beautiful rainbows. The somewhat dated rooms are called "Chalets" and ours was clean and just right for 2. It overlooked the parking lot but the deck was surrounded by trees so privacy wasn't a concern. Restaurant is pricey and we saw many a tourist read the menu and leave.
Wonderful terrace/garden area in back with a Dr. Suess-like pizza oven and small umbrella covered tables, great for watching the sunset over the coast. $30 pizza was tasty, but while eating I thought I lost a filling only to find a stone... not a happy camper. :(

Room Tip: Choose one of the larger rooms with a stove and a view.

We stopped for lunch on our last day in Maui so we were used to the high prices. I had a longboard lager beer and it was good. Two of the house burgers filled us up. Service was fine but there were indications that other tables were not so lucky. The view was a nice compensation for the price. I would not make this a destination but if you are nearby it fits the bill for lunch.

At the base on the Haleakala crater you will find the lodge. The brick oven outside is worth seeing and the pizza's that come out are even better. The toppings are unique but work well together. The service was good and the atmosphere was also good , it gives you the feeling you are at a cabin. The prices are a little on the high side but I believe they match the quality. Stop by on your way up the crater or just cause.

My husband and I chose this place given proximity to the mountain. Our goal was to spend two days on on the mountain and we were looking for a good location. We arrived to our room early due to flight changes and that was treated as a horrible inconvenience. It's an average place with highly priced food although the view from the restaurant is beautiful. In one word, average.

Had a lovely lunch at the Kula Lodge after Haleakala. Make sure you eat outside so you can enjoy the lovely garden and gentle waterfall. Food was great. Hubs had blue cheese burger and I had
teri-chicken. Watched staff making wood fired pizza on outside oven that really smelled and looked yummy. Would definitely go back if in the area.

We decided to come here after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. Took the chance at not reserving a table and got lucky I guess. It was pretty full with a few tables to spare. Friendly service. Beautiful view of the valley. Hubby and I shared fresh papaya to start. I had the Belgium waffle with local strawberries and pineapple, topped with their coconut syrup! Amazing breakfast after the sunrise at Haleakala.
