“04/06/13 Eco Tour with Garrett”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

Garrett provided my family with an incredible kayaking experience today. His knowledge, general disposition, and handling a group of 10 (3 family entities) provided an unforgettable experience. What we thought was a kayak excursion to turtle snorkeling areas changed into mainly a whale observing experience. I'm sure we were lucky as we heard the whale sing, saw the whale underwater, and as it broke water for air and then dive. Throughout, Garrett answered questions and relayed information about the whales, the whale conservatory, the turtles and fish we snorkeled above, Maui, and Hawaiian history. Although Garrett is relatively new to guiding these trips, starting last fall, he did a fabulous job and I would recommend Garrett and Eco Tour's to everyone.

“I love whales!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

We met our terrific guide, Garrett, at Makena Landing at 7:00am. From there, he gave us a really good briefing that had our group (including one very nervous person) feeling good about getting in the kayaks on the water. We then kayaked out to a spot to watch the whales. There were a few different groups out there, but we didn't feel crowded. While we were watching the whales...we saw several...Garrett talked to us about the whales and about the natural history of Maui. He was very informative, even though he had just moved to Maui in September. He did a great job of telling us where to look to see the whales. Near the end of our time watching whales, all the other groups were moving on to snorkel. Since there were still a few whales around, Garrett allowed us to continue watching them. Then we moved on to the snorkeling area which was very crowded. Still, we saw several sea turtles and lots of fish. We then had an easy kayak back to the beach.
There were several different levels of experience on our trip and everyone seemed to have a great time. There was even a gal who didn't know how to swim and she seemed to enjoy herself. I would definitely recommend this trip with this company.

“Great Relaxing Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

We went on a beautiful, still morning. Paddled out and watched humpback whales in every direction. Listened to the males sing while sitting quietly in our kayaks. Paddled to the reef and snorkeled around countless sea turtles. Guide Chris was great. Safety instruction and general info was thorough and helpful. Knowledge of the subjects of the tour (animals, the island, history, etc) was an excellent feature of the trip. We brought our 6 year old which I may not suggest. She did not quite have the patience or appreciation for sitting quietly in a kayak in the sun, waiting for diving whales to surface and listening to them sing. Extremely relaxing for adults, given the calm water and great weather. No rush or pressure to maintain any sort of high speed of paddling and I surest for every level of kayaker.

“OMG! AMAZING!! What a way to see whales!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013 via mobile

I was leary of kayaking because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to keep up but no worries. It wasn't difficult at all. And our guide, Steve, was very patient...and very I formative. We had a humpback come between our two kayaks! You could watch the beautiful turquoise as it traveled between our kayaks and came up about 20 feet in front of us. It was FABULOUS! Then we saw z mom and baby pretty close. Also got to snorkel with some big sea turtles. What a fantastic tour. Don't miss it!!! We boomed again and Steve was even going to take pictures for us but had to cancel due to wind. But we will be back!

“Great Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

We just returned home from a fabulous vacation on Maui. Our last day there we kayaked with Garrett out of Makena Beach. We had a wonderful experience. Garrett made the day so enjoyable! He is very knowledgeable about the islands and the sea life. We learned so much and saw so much! Loved the whales!! Loved the turtles! Loved the fish! We will recommend this to our friends, and we will be back. Great way to end our vacation! Diane and Steve (Seattle)
