“Its okay...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2015

Honestly, I wanted to love this place, but it just wasn't that much. Perhaps its better when you can actually see the humpback whales off of the coast. I'm glad it was free, as we only stayed for about 30 minutes. It was educational, but nothing that we didn't already know. It is nice that they help the whales, so definitely stop by and donate a few dollars!

Lady met us at the door and started in with her spiel. It was informative. Talks about whales and turtles.

“Everything You Wanted to Know About Humpback Whales in a Perfect Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2015

This is an excellent place to find out about humpback whale behavior, migration, rescue and protection. The visitor center offers displays, two videos and an amazing view! The building is oceanfront with the Maui fishpond right outside the window. The volunteer we met was extremely knowledgeable and patiently answered all of our questions. They accept monetary donations and offer a small selection of t-shirts for purchase. Parking is free of charge and available on site.

“Great place to learn about the whales, turtles and seals”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2015

HIHWNMS is one of those free places to visit while in Maui. Located in front of a 500+ year old fishpond, it has exhibits and displays about the Humpback Whales, the turtles in Hawaiian waters, and the monk seal which only lives in Hawaii. Lots of knowledgeable volunteers and hands on for keiki (youngsters).

“Awesome opportunity to hear about this beautiful part of the world”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2015

Take time to visit and support this organization and their efforts to preserve nature for all to enjoy and appreciate. While visiting Maui last year we saw a schedule of events in the oaper and took one evening to go enjoy hearing about the Humpbacks and the efforts to free those caught in fishing lines, etc. it was extremely fascinating and enjoyable.
