“Great value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2012

We decided to stay at this B&B because of the very convenient position in Kihei/Wailea. The neighborhood is extremely quiet and the property is green and pleasant, with a nice deck facing sunset.

We stayed in the Rainforest Suite, which features a private patio, a kitchenette, tv, AC and private bathroom (no window). We were a little worried because in other reviews we had read that the Rainforest Suite does not get much privacy, but we had no privacy problem whatsoever, because two sides of the patio are protected by wooden walls, while the third has a roll-up curtain. We enjoyed our patio for breakfast, for reading, and for hanging out our beach stuff. The only drawback of the room is that it gets direct sun in the afternoon (at least in August) so it can become a little hot especially around 3:00, but this was not a real issue, as we normally were away at that time and there was AC anyway, and also direct sun was good for drying beach stuff. Maybe the bed could have been more comfortable (again not a real issue).

We liked the breakfast, especially the fact that you can order what you want from a list the night before, therefore nothing gets wasted. We also enjoyed meeting Tom and Denise, they are very pleasant hosts, we hope we will be able to meet them again.

We stayed in the Ocean Suite, which is the larger of the two rooms in the main house. The room is quite spacious, airy, clean and comfortable, and the private patio is lovely. We enjoyed our "happy hours" on the common deck, with a panoramic view of the sun setting into the sea, and our breakfasts on our secluded patio, surrounded by flowering ginger. The landscaping around the house is very lovely. Tom & Denise were friendly and helpful and the breakfasts adequate, if uninspired. The house is located in a comfortable neighborhood and is easy to find and central to most of the things we wanted to do.

The main downside for us was the inadequate cooking facility. The "kitchenette" is a counter in a closet with a toaster oven, coffee maker and tiny refrigerator that balks at making ice. The kitchenware consists of 2 plates, 2 place settings of silverware, and a couple of glasses and mugs. The outdoor kitchen, which our hosts kindly made available to us, has a good sink, a microwave, barbeque and a very few extra items of kitchenware. It was a challenge to get any food prepared at all. Fortunately, everything tastes better in Hawai'i.

Next downside for us was that you have to drive everywhere. The neighborhood is nice, but it is far from quiet, and our contemplation of the sunset was generally punctuated by lawnmowers and barking dogs. You have to get in the car to go for a drink, a walk on the beach or a bag of ice.

The only other problem was that the reading light was terrible. I tried everything to get enough light for my middle aged eyes, and finally ended up using a booklight.

Since these three issues are very important to us, we would probably not stay at Dreams Come True on Maui again, although we very, very highly recommend the B&B for every other aspect.

Room Tip: The Ocean Suite is the best! You have complete privacy and a really beautiful patio area for your e...

This B&B was an excellent value! We stayed in the Rainforest suite, and it was quite comfortable and reasonably spacious. I might recommend getting the Ocean suite in the back, if you can, as you'll have a bit more privacy, but unless someone's deliberately looking in, they can't see much. It has its own private patio with racks where you can let stuff dry out overnight.

Given that I'm typically a late riser, having the breakfast waiting outside our door and being able to eat it at our leisure was really ideal. And when I had early morning dives or other activities, I could even store the breakfast in the fridge for later!

Tom was particularly helpful with advice and recommendations. Hey loaned us an old copy of the Maui "blue book", which was an great travel companion. Everything in Kihei/Wailea is close by. And Denise's breakfast breads are delicious! :-)

Room Tip: Ocean Suite is preferable, but Rainforest Suite is comfortable, though with a bit less privacy.

In terms of B&B this place pretty much has everything going for it. The location is quiet and away from the touristy area and the view from the deck over the ocean is great. We slept with our room door open to the breeze and felt completely safe.
Denise was very helpful and accommodated any request. The breakfast provided is good and you pretty much have a full kitchen to use at your disposal between your room facilities and the BBQ out the back. Free laundry was also provided.
The only thing that surprised me a bit was for the few days we stayed there our room was never serviced not even as much as bins emptied. What would be the case if we stayed for a week or more??
If you come here do yourself a favour and hire a car. You will need it to get down to the local shops and get around and it is the best way to explore the island

We stayed in the 2 bedroom condo on the beach. It was clean and directly accross from the best beach on the strip for boogie boarding. Although it was right on the main floor we never felt concerned with anyone breaking in and it was actually conveniently located near the pool and our rental car. Costco and other grocery stores, renting bikes, surf boards and lessons are all nearby.thank you for a gerat vacation. I almost didn't come home!

Great B&B in Kihei, near several beaches like Polo Beach, Little Beach and Big Beach.
We stayed for 10 days and we had a great time!
Especially the chairs and snorkel gear which you can use for free comes in handy.
Also the book about Maui and the cd's for in the car on the way to Hana were excellent!
All there is to know about Maui you can ask the owner, he knows a lot about Maui.

In addition to this being a nice place to stay on Maui, there are two things that are especially great about it. One is that there were all kinds of things for us to use: beach towels; umbrellas; snorkeling gear; boogie boards; an additional better-quipped, common use, kitchen area with a grill; and maybe other things I can't think of.

The other great thing is the breakfast. It is great because of the food, but also because of the unique way it was served: every night we mark 4 items on a menu and leave it on a door of our room leading to the house, and every morning the breakfast waits on a tray in front of the door, kind of like room service. To some the downside may be that you don't get to spend time with others at the house, but we liked it.

Here is little about the setting. The house is a mile or so from many great beaches or from the town. A short driveway rises up to the house where parking is available for all guests. A mostly private walkway lead to our room, on the side of the house, which had an en-suite bathroom. The room was full of practical things; some examples are the kitchenette area, fridge, dishes, and guide books. The room looks at, and has private use of, a partially fenced-in patio with a table where we liked to have breakfast, with some nature in the background. The front of the house has a large deck shared by all, with a view that reaches the ocean.

There are no real things to complain about, but it was little petty that we were told that the use of air-conditioning is extra $3 per night (we never had a need to use it anyway since the fan does a good job), and it is possible to imagine a better setting: for example, if the same place was actually at the beach (but we always drove to a different beach anyway).

The owners were really friendly and eager to helps us with any questions. A B&B like this surpasses any hotel or a sterile resort, at least for the more intimate way we like to travel, plus you save money.
