We just returned from a 2 week stay at the Akahi in B203 and had a constant battle with cockroaches!!! (not sure if the whole building was infested, or just our unit) Our unit was quite old and outdated, lousy linens, old kitchen utensils, dishwasher was antiquated and cupboards smelled like 30 yr. old mac-tac. Carpets were stained, iron barely worked but washer/dryer in the unit was a godsend! We were hardly there mind you, but the "management" was not very "teenager" friendly and were very rude. I guess it is hit or miss with an condo rental by owner, but this is a definate miss! Beach across the street was lovely, (lots of shows from the whales jumping) and you must eat at Fred's, Big Wave Cafe, Aloha Mixed Plate and Bubba Gumps! We spent a lot of time in Lahaina (great shopping) go to the Old Lahaina Luau and see the Maui Ocean Center. Go to the Maui Marketplace in Kahului on Saturday. Driving the road to Hana a Must! DO NOT RENT from Island Car Rentals of Maui (a total nightmare) go with Dollar. We had maybe 3 days of full sun, the rest was muggy and overcast, but found lots to do. All in all, an OK trip.
