OK, we’re going to a Subway to get a good, fresh, quick sandwich. Pretty simple you say, right? WRONG! It was about lunch time, and there was only one customer ahead of us, which looked like a good thing. WRONG! This customer had several sandwiches to order, so getting a quick sandwich went out the window. Then, it was obvious the food handler was very inexperienced, with every step agonizingly slow, and checked, and double checked, so each sandwich took a really, really long time. Did I mentioned several sandwiches – yeah, and l-o-n-g time to work through their order. When my turn came up for just one foot long simple sandwich, the same laborious process was repeated yet again. After what took 20 minutes (recall that quick sandwich idea?), finally checked out, headed to the car to share the sandwich (because we were now late for an appointment), and the final insult emerged. The bread was dry, hard, and nasty! We couldn’t believe it – never had this happen anywhere else, but our luck was not with us this go round.
So, after going back inside the shop, advising them of the problem, and asking them to just cut another fresh loaf and we could exchange the makings, which were just fine, they proceeded to re-make everything, taking longer still. So-o-o exasperating, and when we received our newly made sandwich, not even a “sorry about that” or any comment suggesting they regretted the problem. It was just an indifferent attitude of “let’s make another sandwich” and then, “Next!” If only their owner knew how inept their staff had been!
