How can you not love a condo where you can watch the sun set on the ocean right in front of you every night? I don't think you can get better value for your money for a beach front place in Maui, especially since it's on a quiet side road away from the traffic. The room (304, studio) was clean, there were ample linens and kitchen ware, and even beach supplies such as mats, chairs and umbrella. We had no desire but to eat out on the lanai all the time, and skip the restaurants, because the view was so good. There is a barbeque downstairs at the north side of the building.

There isn't an air conditioner, but we were able to leave the slatted windows open all night to catch the breezes. There is also a celing fan right over the murphy bed, to help keep things cool at night.

The snorkeling right in front was good, and it was obviously a turtle town there. We saw at least three or more turtles every time we snorkeled right in front. Charley Young Beach is only a one or two minute walk away, and is a lovely beach as well.

We would definitely stay here again if we ever come back this way again, which I hope is soon. Maui is beautiful! Kiehei is a great central location for getting around the island. A big bonus is that you are not stuck in traffic like the folks trying to get in and out of Lahaina, Ka'anapali and north.

This is our first vacation since we had our son. Punahoa is just a great place for a family with a young kid. We were really amazed by the fatansitic view once we stepped into our condo. Both my wife and I had fun trying our first snorkeling in the rocky shore in front of our apartment. The only problem was that there were some cockroaches in the condo but other than that we really had a good time. We definitely recommend Punahoa to the people who want to stay in South Maui.

When we walked out on our lanai and saw the ocean so close, we knew we had chosen the right place. We rented unit 204, a studio. Perfect for the two of us. Loads of extras in the kitchen, including a rice cooker, nice utensils and a great coffee maker. There were several beach towels and chairs to use. The other guests were friendly and quiet. The sight of turtles swiming off the rocks in front every morning and the sounds of the ocean to put us to sleep at night, it was just what we imagined. We will be back.

You will not regret staying here.

Your (early) mornings begin with the sound of the surf washing against the rocks to the left side shore and a stereo splash of the waves to the sandy beach area to the right end of the property. You may hear in the distance surfers communicating with each other from a small public area a half a block away. Many nights we left the sliding door wide open to let the breeze flow in. Of course you know by now that these apartments do not have any AC (except for the top suites). Mid-late afternoons are warm, but the trade winds kick in and help suppress the heat.

Our room on the 2nd floor contained everything one may need for a long stay. Much nicer than staying at a hotel. You're on Maui....you won't be spending too much time in the apartment anyway. Very convienient location in Kihei. Easy access to the highway and local businesses.

Cannot wait to go back to Maui. Would we stay at Punahoa Apartments again? Absolutely. Just have to decide on when now.
