“Wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

We spent 8 nights at the Maui Coast Hotel recently and LOVED it! We are a family of four, and stayed in a Jr. Suite, which was great! There was plenty of storage space and room for us! Loved having the wet bar available and the two bottles of water every day! I would say that this had to be the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed at! I spent a LOT of time looking at various places to stay in the Kihei area, and found all of the reviews for this hotel to be accurate and that is what helped me decide to stay here. It was so easy and convenient to walk across to Charley Young Beach! Easy beach chair rental was a plus! We were thrilled that there were so many good places to eat within walking distance! So great to eat and then head to the beach to watch the sunset! All of the housekeeping staff were great and thorough. EVERY person at the front desk was extremely helpful and smiled at all times! We stopped one morning to let them know that the sink at the wet bar was draining slow. We didn't need it fixed, but wanted them to be aware...when we got back from our daily activities, it had been repaired!

The poolside cafe was nice and convenient, but not as good of an experience. The first night we had good food, but very slow service. The second time we went, we had great service and poor food. Despite that, the live music and atmosphere were wonderful and a great way to end the day!

I would recommend this hotel to any family and friends that are considering going to Maui! It was GREAT!

We stayed for 7 nites and were happy with our stay. Great place to walk from for meals and exercise and beaches. Downside is the pool. Hotel holds 600 plus; pool has less than 20 lounges and only half of them in the sun. Also pool is very small. One small hot tub.

My wife and I stayed here for 13 nights in March 2013 on the recommendation of a friend. We already plan to return next year. We had a 1 bedroom suite ocean view on the 7th floor -very nice. Comfortable bed -good pillows. VERY clean. Good housekeeping staff. We used the concierge a number of times-she was great. Nice pool - happy hour daily from 3-6PM. Live music daily from 6 to 9PM. We especially like the two gentlemen that sing every Tuesday evening. EXCELLENT work out facilities - super gym - first class. Location is very good - beach is bout 300 yards away - other 'amenities/restaurants etc close by. We find Kehei/Wailea to be a good location as it's central. If you want to go to Kahului or Paia or Makwao they are all relatively close. If you are in Kaanapali or Lahaina you would have a ways to go. Beaches in the area are awesome. Negatives? Only 2 small ones. They have bikes you can sign out all day for free (nice). Both the bike I had and my wife's had the chain come off. Someone needs to service theses bikes occasionally - we never signed them out again. Secondly - although there is no smoking in the rooms or on the lanai (balcony) we had some knucklehead smoke on his lanai and it always came into our room and got sucked into our air conditioner. It got so we couldn't leave our balcony door open as it was too smoky (what are you going to do?). We love the hotel, the staff, the location, Obviously well managed. I'd say here anytime.

Room Tip: ASk for an Ocean View - high up

I was extremely happy with the hotel and would stay again.

The hotel
Beautiful, clean, fresh rooms at a very decent price (check the long list of discounts on their web pages). It was hard to find similar resorts at this price range from the island. Rooms are well equipped: fridge, microwave oven, fan, AC… The pool area was nice with a pool, two jacuzzis and live music in the evenings. The gym was exceptionally well quipped, or actually two of them next to each other. I liked our room facing north / the parking lot because it was never too hot in the room. There was also a sense of privacy on the second floor due to some plants between the hotel and the parking lot. I didn’t notice the cars coming and going at all. Remember that they charge about $15/night resort fee as all the big hotels in the island. You’ll get free parking, pool towels, shuttle service, bikes, tennis etc.

The area
Maui Coast hotel is between two small restaurant areas that are about 10-15 min walk / 3 min drive away, so it is kind of between two centers but not in the middle of one. The streets are not that well lid in the evenings and there is nothing special in between, but the overall feeling of the area is very safe. The restaurant areas are small with a couple of bars, restaurants, supermarket, kiosks etc. The beach across the street (Kamaole beach park I) is excellent. Part of it is 'separated' from the main road by some of villas giving the beach more paradise feeling compared to some other beaches in Maui that are next to a road. Kihei is well located in Maui, so if you plan to visit different areas, Kihei is a good place to stay.

Room Tip: Rooms facing north / the parking lot are not too hot. There was also a sense of privacy on the secon...

This was my 4th time coming to this hotel and have always been impressed by the professionalism of the staff (they show the true "aloha spirit") as well as the accommodations. If you are looking for hotel that is in a great location just across from one of the beaches also within distance of restaurants and shopping, this is your hotel. It is just off of the main road, but tucked back so you can enjoy w/o noise. Also, note that parking is free, just a $17.50/day resort fee which also includes access to fitness center, internet access (in-room and lobby), etc. So, take a moment to see what this hotel has to offer, you will be glad you did. Great place for couples as well as families too.

Excellent room, pool and beach access across the street, an shuttle service for a most reasonable price! They provide you with towels for the pool and beach with minimal hassle. Internet access was great and included.

Room Tip: Higher level rooms closer to the front of the hotel have best views.

Maui Coast - what can I say - simply wonderful. This was our 5th visit and we will be going again and again. This last trip I took my mother for her 75th birthday. She was so overwhelmed and enjoyed everything at the Maui Coast. She loved the hotel from the front entrance to the room - absolutely everything. We ate our breakfast beside the pool every morning and enjoyed the live entertainment every evening beside the pool. Our room was everything we expected. Housekeeping do a fantastic job! The front desk person go above and beyond to ensure your stay is something to remember. The shuttle van is fantastic if you decide you do not want to drive to a local restaurant. Four straight years in a row we have enjoy the Maui Coast, as a couple, as a family and the latest with with mom. I would not think of trying somewhere else! As soon as I walk into the entrance I am welcomed by the same staff as the holiday before. That in itself must say it is a great to place to vacation and also to work! Even the gift store lady welcomes you with open arms. You will not regret your stay at the MAUI COAST - you will have the stay of your life. Aloha

P.S. The beach is right across the street and you can rent the beach chairs from the gift store. ABC confectionary is within a 1/2 block and has everything from soup to nuts! Recently they opened their lunch counter. Another 1/2 block down is the Cinnamon Place. Small shop with cinnamon buns so good you will go back day after day! They also make homemade deli sandwiches! Great to take to the beach!

Room Tip: Rooms on the opposite site of the parking lot are quieter.
