We booked the Alcove suite and felt that it was not worth it. The lobby and entrance areas looked nice but our "suite" looked more like an upgraded motel room. The service from the staff was average and again it felt like were checking into a motel. No welcome or smile at all. When we asked one of the staff at concierge where we could rent kayaks, he said he wouldn't know(??). My husband's wallet was stolen and we explained we had to file a report to the police and we asked if they knew the number to call. We felt that we had to give them a lot of explanation in order for them to assist us. No motivation for customer service at all. Beaches are nice and good for swimming, kayaking and paddle board.

The Maui Coast hotel was Ok, I don't think it was worth the $193.00 a night at all. We got a Jr. alcove suite, i guess its one of the larger rooms. The location was ok, I love Kihei. The room was old, the bed was not comfy, and we found one little black beatle a day crawling on the floor. The room description said "garden terrace view", well they didn't mention that the "garden" had a parking lot running down the middle of it. We never used our Lanai because it was just too noisy outside. Inside our room with our glass door shut it was quite. We never used there pool but it looked nice and they had a poolside bar and grill that was great. The Spices restaurant was good too. We won't be staying at the hotel again.

“Maui Coast was very nice!”

We really liked the Maui Coast. We could not find a condo to save our lives during the time we wanted to stay in Kihei, so the Maui Coast was our higher-priced alternative.

It was almost worth having no kitchen and paying extra for impeccable housekeeping, not having to worry about cooking, and enjoying the luxury of a hotel vs. a "do it all yourself" condo. Although the hotel might be slightly overpriced, it was worth it. It was clean, staff was friendly, and it is in a great location - especially for our main activity (diving, leaving at 5:45 am every day from Kihei boat ramp).

We loved it. No complaints at all. Loved the internet in the lobby... pool bar was nice, with the cat "Spicy" to greet us at happy hour every night. Go stay there and you won't regret it!

“Two thumbs up!”

Maui Coast Hotel

Feb 29, 2008

We were very happy with Maui Coast. It's just across from a great beach and surrounded (within walking distance) by a variety of restaurants, bars and shopping. We had a huge room that was very clean. They also provided beach towels (which may be standard, I don't know) which was very convenient. We had a great time there and would definitely go again.

This was our first visit to Maui and I'm glad we stayed in Kihei. The Maui Coast Hotel was a nice hotel with clean, spacious rooms. Admittedly, we don't usually spend much time in the hotel but I did get food poisoning and spent a day in the semi-private jacuzzi next to the pool. The staff was very friendly and when I plugged up the sink, someone from the front desk was up to the room w/i minutes (beware of Maui Taco's salad bar). We mainly go Hawaii to snorkel and lay on the beach and this hotel was w/i walking distance to some nice beaches. A major bonus was the free shuttle service the hotel offers (w/i 5 miles or so) and since most people didn't use this service, we felt as if we had our very own driver. Not only were we taken to some wonderful beaches in the area, our driver recommended some hot local restaurants (1/2 price sushi at midnight!). We just gave him a ring on his cell when we were ready to head back to the hotel and were picked up about 10 minutes later. We'll definitely go back to the Maui Coast Hotel.
