Bistro Manila Maui has excellent food and I like the taste because it is not salty and I recommend to those people who have hypertension. They have excellent service and personnel are friendly. We always go there every time to dine with the family. Ben & Letty

“Excellent Filipino Cuisine & Great Hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

What great luck for us to find this gem of a place - a diamond in the rough, so close to the airport. Cecile and her hubby run a great restaurant, with Cecile's more refined palate reflected in the dishes served: not too salty, and deserts not too sweet. Both of us liked her use of the "local island touch" that was most obvious in the Bistek Tagalog (amazingly flavorful butter). The Bistek Tagalog is just done so perfect - a thicker cut of sirloin, cooked medium rare and tender, with the fat on the sides cooked crispy and slightly seared - just simply heaven!

We also highly recommend her Crispy Bangus (I might have the exact name wrong but it’s the one with the small bread crumbs and although this may sound unappealing, trust me, it’s amazing!). Here also the local island touch is used, making an already pleasing sensory experience with the light crispiness contrasting with the tender flesh even better with the creamy flavor of the butter. WOW!

We also liked her Bicol Express and recommend it - she made it very spicy for us. Oh, and for the first time in my wife's life, she finally had someone serve Halo Halo with little bits of avocado - something her mother used to do and which she really especially appreciated and said is just the right way to do it. ;) We both agreed the Halo Halo was just the right sweetness - not overpowering like most places you go to.

Add in the comfortable ambiance of the little place, with nice cold A/C, an extremely friendly and hospitable Cecile who will share her family's history and that of the island if you are interested and who will make you feel very welcomed, and you have a winner of a restaurant for a wonderful meal of excellent Filipino food.

One note about trying to find it - the sign is actually a tiny little "half" sign shared with a radio station, so be sure to view one of the pics from here to know what to look for ahead of time. I literally had pulled right up to it using my navigation system and still wasn't able to spot it from just 25 feet away until Villa pointed my head at it. ;) Salamat Cecile for making our first trip to Maui all the better with your wonderful food and warm hospitality!

Bistro Manila is the go-to spot if you're looking to eat Filipino food. The service was impecable and the food was delicious. We ate the sisig, crispy pata, palabok, and halo halo. It was by far one our favorite meals when we visited Maui. You will not be disappointed!
