My husband and I went to the Hotel Hana Maui for our anniversary vacation and really loved our time there. We participated in a few of the activities, like the ukulele lessons and the trip to the beach area where you can bodysurf. Both were fabulous and the staff really treated us well. The manager's reception was nice too - interesting to meet and mingle with other guests and the buffet dinners at the hotel were very good too. The room was fabulous - loved sleeping with the patio doors open and looking out at the ocean and listening to the waves crash on the shore. I would highly recommend being closest to the ocean - I think the experience would not have been nearly as nice without that. I was a little disappointed at the fact that the room shared a wall with another room, because in the photos it looked like you had a "hut" all to yourself", but we had excellent privacy during our stay. I missed the lei making lessons, but the concierge was very helpful and showed me how to do it, so I sat under a tree, picked up flowers off the ground and made my own lei - very cool! I remember that the gardeners stopped working so that I could enjoy the surroundings while doing this, so that was a nice touch. I had only one real problem with dining in our room. After ordering room service and being told that they could set up a candlelight dinner on the terrace, the food arrived 1 1/2 hours late, was cold and then they told me that they couldn't light candles in the room because it was against fire code. and they couldn't move a table to the terrace for us. So, when they left we did it all ourselves and salvaged our romantic anniversary dinner. The manager though handled it very professionally the next day and comped us the meal, so we got over it. Overall, it was a great experience and a perfect launching point for seeing some of the amazing sites in Hana.
