“home of the black sand beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

the only problem are the crowds---another one of those hard to believe sights of a beach made of entirely of black sand, pebbles and rocks---a couple of the paths around are quite beautiful to walk

“Awesome Campsite!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

The best campsite I've ever camped! We tented it here for two nights and it was a really good experience. The campsite has an outdoor shower and mens/womens restrooms. You can hear the ocean all night long from your tent and the black sand beach is just steps away. You can have it all to yourself if your up early enough. A lady drove by on a golf cart asking for a last name and to post passes on your tent. I read complaints about her on tripadvisor and I would have to say she isn't the most friendly person in the world, but not that bad. You cannot camp here without a paying for a pass ahead of time, it's that simple people. If staying here keep in mind that Hana has roughly two expensive restaurants to choose from in the evening. Hana Fresh down the road was a daily stop for breakfast, good stuff!

Park/Campgrounds are worth your while, especially if your looking to save a buck!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

Wow absolutely breathtaking. The most beautiful part of the road to Hana. We'd an beautiful day with blue skies. So the park looked at his best. Unfortunately there were a lot of people. But the beach was still beautiful black, we've been to the number one most beautiful beach of the USA :-) definitely go there!

“Absolutely Breathtaking.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

Although the Road to Hana is long and arduous, this beach is definitely worth seeing. I recommend planning to stay here longer rather than continuing on.
