We expected more of this local café, based on reviews and local advice, and it didn't measure up. First, we waited a long time to get our drinks, which were just wine and we were next to the bar. Then, our appetizers took 30 minutes--in fact, the second one, a beet salad, never came and we just canceled it. Then the special fish mahi mahi came less than luke warm--the cream sauce was good but the fish was just so so. For $28.95 this was not worth it. The Hawaiian plate was basic and ok, but some of the pork in the Lau Lau was overcooked. The steak a la plancha was good--local Hawaiian beef. The French press coffee and the cheesecake were excellent.
We were seated inside and couldn't see the musicians but could still hear them. We were expecting some hula dancing--there was just one, done by one of the musicians and not even in Hawaiian dress.
So was I disappointed? Yes.
