“Heavenly experience .We will be back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

This is the most heavenly spot anyone could pick. The beauty is incredible. In January and February spinner dolphins and whales are constantly putting on a display. Whales are giving birth.
This venue is perfect for a wedding. It is a great place to go with family , friends or a romantic get away. Great golf, gorgeous beach we will definitely be back!

Room Tip: It is expensive but worth every penny. An ocean view is fabulous as you see whales and dolphins from...

For 5 days in a row I ate breakfast at the resort. The staff up at the restaurant were the best. The staff at the bottom of the walk to Hulope were a different story. They were rude, condescending playing on their phones, and the like. One heavy set guy their would be fired if he treated one of my customers the way he does.

The food was great, views were perfect.

Aloha crimepays1229,

Mahalo for taking the time to review your stay with us. I appreciate the great feedback regarding your breakfast experience and the restaurant staff - they truly are the best! I have shared your positive remarks with our Director of Food & Beverage, thank you for the compliments. I appreciate you bringing to my attention the feedback regarding the staff at the "bottom of the walk." After looking into this further, we have identified the gentlemen as part of the Department of Land and Natural Resources and I have personally reached out to his supervisor to discuss staff conduct. Again, thank you for bringing this to my attention. If you would like to discuss your stay further, please feel free to reach out to me directly. I hope to see you on island again soon.

Kind regards,

Charles Fisher,

My wife and I have stayed on almost all of the islands, but this has been our favorite. If you want a place to "get away from it all", this is the place. We split our time between Manele Bay and the Lodge. Both places are wonderful, but offer different experiences.
We were upgraded to an ocean view and it was wonderful. We spent our days walking the cliffs above the ocean, lounging by the beautiful pool or swimming in the ocean.
We also did a kayak trip on the far side of the island. Besides the people in our group, we didn't see another person for six hours. There are few places that you can go to have this much privacy.
If you need to shop, this is not the place for you, but if you want to truly unwind and have a memorable experience, this is the place.

Aloha VNHW,

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. Wonderful to learn that you discovered the beauty, privacy and richness of the island. As you mentioned, it's an idyllic destination to get away from it all and truly relax. Additionally, it allows for an "island hop" experience without having to leave with our two properties - one oceanside and one in the upcountry, all within 20 minutes of each other. You can snorkel in the morning and then horseback ride in the countryside in the afternoon, the opportunities are endless. Thank you again for the great feedback and I look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Kind regards,

Great place very relaxing, if you need to be running and site seeing not the island for you. Bathroom very clean, great lanai, staff great other then sports bar. You have to hunt down the bartender. We love the beach, the staff come around at least every hour to give you water, an snack, or fresh towels if you need it...

Room Tip: What ever you can afford its great..

My husband and I eloped to Lanai in 2010 and stayed at the Four Seasons Manele Bay. This hotel is as close to perfection as one can get. When we checked in the manager offered an upgrade to an ocean front terrace suite since we were getting married there (and, keep in mind it was just us. No guests or anything.) We got first class treatment that was understated but classy. The grounds are breathtaking and it is a destination to go to if you want to avoid the nightclubs and busy, hectic tourist scene. The restaurants are exquisite and actually think that restaurant at the golf course is the best place to eat on the island. The views are amazing and it is a place to go and relax. It is about as romantic of a place as one could imagine. We went back this last September to celebrate our anniversary and were offered an upgrade to a partial ocean view balcony suite which was also wonderful. The only hiccup was that the grounds were being cleaned up and the clean up crews started before 7 am and they were LOUD right outside our balcony. After two days I suggested to the front desk that they try and not play loud music and cause a ruckus so early. They were a little quieter but they also heckled us for complaining. It was a small annoyance but did not distract from our amazing holiday. I recommend anyone who wants to get away from the crowds and enjoy a luxurious peaceful holiday stay at the four seasons manale bay. We are already planning our trip for next fall.

Room Tip: I recommend any ocean view room.

We put off writing this review for a few weeks. It's one of the more difficult ones we have written. We spent eight disappointing nights here in early December, 2012. This is a very expensive place to stay. We expect so much from the Four Seasons and it just couldn't deliver. Nobu restaurant was being constructed and there was constant noise. The main dining room was closed so that new carpeting could be installed. The pool deck was being resurfaced. The path to the beach was closed for some of the days we were there so it could be redone. The menus changed in the restaurants and neither the waitstaff nor the concierge were kept up to date. You must pay for uncomfortable shuttle service that was not on time - it changed a lot - being driven by road rally wannabes. We didn't really know from day to day what would be open and what was closed. We found out from one of the employees dining in the sports bar that that location has lattes, fruit and pastries available in the morning. Who knew? Our guest room had no directory of services [it is being redone]. The new manager, Charles, bent over backwards to try and make our stay a pleasant one but there was only so much he could do with all of the construction and changes going on. We felt somewhat like the unwelcome relatives who were there while the family got the place ready for the people they really like who would be arriving for the Christmas holiday. This was an embarrassment for the Four Seasons and Larry Ellison.

Aloha bczican,

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. As discussed while on island, I'm truly sorry for the inconvenience you experienced while on vacation due to the property enhancements in early December. The Resort completed several updates, refining the overall design aesthetic in the public areas to capture a distinct sense of place. Our priority is, and remains, to offer guests an exceptional experience and I sincerely apologize that this was not reflective during your stay. I hope we are able to regain your trust in the Resort to welcome you back in the future. Should you wish to discuss your stay further, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

My wife & I stayed here right after Christmas & New Year's holidays Jan 6 - 9). It was the beautiful, quiet, perfect getaway for us. Hospitality, food, facility, and scenery were impressive. While we relaxed in lounge chairs by the ocean, we saw spinner dolphins and a whale in the bay. Rented a jeep for the day and had a picnic lunch (packed by the hotel) on a remote beach on the north part of island. What a memorable place!
