Three girlfriends spent four nights at the Lodge at Koele just before Christmas, and we were delighted with every aspect of our stay.
We added a person to our party at the last minute, and the hotel didn't bat an eye (though the extra person charge is pretty steep -- $75 for a rollaway). The rooms are excellent. We stayed in a Koele deluxe room with three adults, and never felt that we were on top of each other. Our room had a window seat, two armchairs, a desk, a four poster bed and a large balcony. The only slight drawback was the bathroom. Four Seasons properties generally have a separate tub and shower, but they were combined in our room with a slightly downmarket plastic shower curtain.
The hotel was fully decorated for Christmas -- Christmas trees in the great hall, the library, the games room and in the lobby of each of the wings, stockings hung by the fireplaces in the great hall, sprays on the wall sconces, etc. Very charming.
The Lodge grounds are extraordinary. Be sure to wander around the whole property (it's massive), as it has some of the most extraordinary views I've seen at a hotel.
Most days we took the shuttle to Manele Bay to lay by the pool (the Lodge pool was pretty shady), which worked a treat. We found the service at both properties to be engaged, helpful and easy.
We'll definitely be back!
