“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

I have read the reviews but I must disagree. The guidebooks said to have the Portuguese bean soup or the pork sandwich, We had both. Bleah. They also suggested the pie. We had that. Bleah. And we got stuck with a huge bill. So I wil be honest here: the guidebooks and on-line resources led us to believe this would be a great lunch. It wasn't -- not by a long shot. So maybe we hit a bad day, maybe our expectations were too high, whatever. But it simply did not work out for us.

“I still dream about the coconut chocolate macadamia nut pie!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

This is the PERFECT place to stop for a bite to eat after the breathtaking views of the Waimea Canyon. The prices are refreshingly reasonable, particularly given the fact that they sure have a monopoly on the location. As our favorite guidebook says, this restaurant is ranked #1 out of 1 restaurants in the area.

I remember our lunch being tasty, but I still dream about the "Coconut Pie" that is served warm and full of coconut, macadamia nuts, and chocolate. Oh my goodness!

“nice pit stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

We were told they had the best chili so we had to stop here after completing our drive of Waimea Canyon. My husband loved the chili while I thought my chicken wing/salad combo was ok (the wings could have used some sauce). They serve breakfast and lunch plus have a small gift shop. Do not expect anything fancy. It is a lodge in the middle of a park. The prices were very reasonable especially considering it really is the only food around. If you are hungry and in the area then it is worth a stop.

“Good stop on the canyon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

We stopped here on our way up to see Waimea Canyon. The service was average and the food was decent- a cute small little diner. Their prices were refreshingly reasonable. Don't expect 5 star quality but it is worth stopping.

“Very average lodge restaurant given the location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2012

We considered eating here, but after reviewing the menu and prices, decided we'd rather wait and go back down the mountain to town for more choices. It was OK since it is the only place to get food in Kokee/Waimea Canyon. Lots of people do eat here and it can get busy if a van/bus of tourists arrive. If you can wait, try the Wrangler Steakhouse in Waimea town.
