“Incredible views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

You can drive up to the viewing platform in under an hour from Wimea and the views of the canyon are breathtaking. On the way back down there are great views of the forbidden isle and a wale or two if you're lucky!

“Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

Since we had a rental car, we decided to drive up the canyon. It is a very pleasant and nice drive. Be sure and stop at each scenic look out, because they are all different and very beautiful. We were very fortunate in that it was really sunny on the day we went and we were ahead of the tour buses.

“Great views and Easy Trip.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

Surprising the drive up Waimea Canyon was easy and quick, despite a lot of the lookout points being busy. There's a number of lookout points, hikes and parks along the road, so you can do Waimea Canyon as quick or slow as you like. We packed a lunch and ate at the top lookout spot. Parking can also be tough at some of the more popular spots, especially in the busier afternoon time.

It's recommended to go earlier in the morning for better/clearer views Na'Pai State Park. We went later in the morning and got to the stop of the canyon by around 1 p.m. It was mostly clouded it, but we were told to wait it out and we did. After about 15-20 minutes, the wind pushed through the clouds and we had a great view. We were lucky, but some people aren't as lucky.

The road up Waimea Canyon is narrow and curvy, so if you get motion sickness, I would suggest taking a number of breaks along the way for hikes, lookout points and parks.

“AMAZNIG VISTA VIEWS WORTH A 2nd TRIP”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

On the day we visited it was a bit dreary, cloudy/hazy and the dreariness increased as we made our way up the mountain. We loved the picturesque views and it was worth the first trip. However, we were disappointed that we couldn't see everything like you could on a clear day. So watch the clouds on the mountains and try to find a clear or semi-clear day (it sounds like this is rare only a handful of days per year is it clear).

Fortunately on the last day of our trip we had no plans and headed south and decided to head back up the canyon and claim our breath-taking views from the top of the canyon. WE WERE SO HAPPY WE DID and it was worth the 2nd trip. We could see the entire canyon and the ocean beyond. The views of the coastline and ocean at the top near the wettest spot on the earth were unbelievable.

So watch the clouds and hopefully you will be blessed with a clear day. LOTS OF CHICKENS....

“Unique Part of Kauai”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

We holiday in Kauai every year and a trip to Waimea Canyon is part of our annual itinerary. It's kind of a long drive from Waimea to the lookout points but that's all part of touring. We never get tired of the view and it is quite a contrast to the rest of the island as another reviewer stated.
