We'd been marginally content with the coffee blends brewed in our vacation cottage, mainly because we both HAVE to HAVE coffee in the morning. In addition to sipping the "coffee," we'd tell ourselves that maybe we just need to add more grounds? Hmmmm.
One morning, before going hiking, we stopped here after visiting the nearby post-office. An incredible experience in the best of ways. We were introduced to a cold-brewed espresso with exquisite water and espresso of fabulous quality. The best part of the experience was that our coffees were made to order. Our barista asked a serious of questions that would make eHarmony and their million-points-of-compatibility envious. Actually, there weren't that many questions, but she knew what she was doing and I had the best iced mocha - not too sweet, with a hint of hazelnut - of my life. It was PERFECTION, and that's saying along, because we'd had a pretty perfect honeymoon already (except for the coffee we bought and brewed at home, of course).
If you are in Kauai, RUN, don't walk, to Aloha-n-Paradise. Seriously. We were fortunate enough to stay on this side of the island. But for those in Lihue or further, it's worth stopping by if you're in the area. They are open early, around 7am or 0730, and close early, so make sure this is your first stop of the day. You won't be disappointed! Seriously, if we'd found this place earlier, we would have stopped here every day. My husband was so taken with the cold brew that he has already been experimenting with his own cold brew, trying to recreate the magic we found here. A most sincere mahalo for the espresso.
