“Wonderful Again. Unit #210 this time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

We traveled with friends this time, so rented unit #210 which is 2 bedroom. It was the same wonderful view as #118, of Bali Hai, etc. Its definitely front row seats for the sunset. The kitchen was well-stocked as was the closet FULL of beach items, (noodles, chairs, ice chests, umbrellas, etc.) We left the front door open a lot to catch the amazing trade winds. The owner has installed wonderful blinds in the west facing windows. It makes a BIG difference!! The afternoon light & heat stay out and you can enjoy dinner at the table without being blinded. ;) The steep path down to the beach is right outside the door of the condo. The guys went down often to swim & snorkel and the ladies took lots of pictures! Since BBQs with open flames are forbidden, the owner purchased an electric BBQ. We used it successfully 2 nights to cook beef & chicken skewers & fish. We enjoyed breakfast on the balcony every morning. Would definitely recommend! Went through Kauai Vacation Rentals for get this one & were happy with their service.

Room Tip: Make sure the unit you choose, if west-facing, has floor-to-ceiling blinds for the afternoon sun. #2...

Room - 246

Kauai - what a place. The North Shore of this lovely island is amazing and we are very glad we stayed in Condo 246. We spent 5 days on Kauai's north shore and had a blast. The Condo was such a nice spot to base ourselves at whilst exploring.

The Good - Everything really. Large, Clean and very comfortable. Fantastic beach to walk down to for some beautiful sunsets. The view is wonderful. Two bathrooms, large kitchen, great appliances, No air-con but very comfortable none-the-less. The location is excellent - only a short drive to Hanalei and some beautiful beaches.

The Bad - Nothing.

The walk back from the beach can be a bit strenuous for the less fit amongst us - but absolutely worth it.

We loved staying here and would have loved to have stayed longer. Having proposed to my Fiancée on the beach below at sunset... this place will be forever with us. Loved it.

Room Tip: 246 is wonderful.

We just returned from our first trip to the beautiful island of Kauai. We spent 8 glorious days on the island and had a terrific time. We found the entire complex to be very well run and managed. Unit 126 has had a fairly recent update of the interior. The furniture and furnishings were nice, comfortable, and clean. The online pictures were very accurate. NOTE: The unit does not have an a/c. We had a fantastic view of Bali Hai and the ocean. The fact that this unit is on the ground floor had no negative impact on the noise level from above. It was barely noticeable. It was nice not to have the upper floor railings to obstruct the view. Just walk across the small lawn from the lanai to reach the edge of the cliff. The pathway to the Hideaway Beach was close. There is a steep path to the rocky area directly below building 5 and it would be of great safety benefit for improvements to be made in order to access this area more safely. The kitchen was well stocked, even with some cooking essentials (spices), which had been left by previous guests. The unit also had beach mats, snorkel equipment, water shoes, beach towels, beach chairs, and a cooler. All were stored in an easy to find location for our use. It was nice not to have to rent these items. There were also a few games, books and videos for guest use. As noted by other posters, there are no BBQ grills on the property. Perhaps some find this to be a problem, but we never missed it, as we chose to eat out for the majority of our meals, except breakfast. If this issue is extremely important to your condo stay, then this complex would not be the place. Each morning we were visited by the Nene and a few other native birds, along with excellent views of many rainbows. We thoroughly enjoyed Kauai, even with the daily showers, and plan to return on a regular basis. We would be pleased and have no qualms about staying in this unit again.

I have been lax in submitting a review for Pali Ke Kua 136, but the review submitted by Sccrmom3 prompted me to write. I wish she had included the unit number to warn about that specific unit as each are individually owned and most are quite nice inside. We found the entire complex to be very well run and managed. Number 136 had been recently updated, had great furniture and finishings, and was very clean. The online pictures are very accurate.

While we didn't have the fabulous Bali Hai view that some do, our unit did have an ocean view and was only a few short steps to the cliff for sunset views over Bali Hai. Another location advantage was that it was an easy walk to the St Regis resort and has a private path down to Hideaways Beach. While we were on the first floor the noise from above was hardly noticeable. The only problem we had was getting the wifi to work, but eventually got connected.

The kitchen was well stocked, even had some basic cooking supplies left by previous guests. There were a ton of beach toys, coolers, beach mats, chairs, etc in the closet for your use. No need to rent. There were also many games, books, and videos in the condo for guest use. We also loved watching the Nene that came around every day.

We were there the last week of March when it rained A LOT every day, but still loved the north side of Kauai and plan to return on a regular basis. We have been to Hawaii (various islands) ten times, but plan to retire in Kauai eventually as it is by far our favorite.

Room Tip: Units ending in 27 to 46 have good ocean views, but are considerably less expensive than those facin...

She didn't welcome us give info etc. nothing but pool towels .... No happy anniversary ?? Yikes that's not a good start room is Terriable like what I imagine a drug apt would be like .... So upsetting filthy old with deep puke green carpet through out..... My oldest is shocked the walk to the beach is crazy I am in good shape but u can't take a cooler with drinks or chairs etc., its too steep and the walk back would be even crazier! No BBQ at all except near the public beach at the end of the steep walk .... And u need Charchol , lighter fluid etc. Really so disappointed tried to call the office no body is there before the office closed.... Do not come here to stay..... U can stop by and see the view....

We stayed at Pali Ke Kua and found it inferior to other places ont he island.

The condo itself was clean and well-stocked for us. A nice kitchen, dishwasher, jennair oven. Showers upstairs and down were great.

Our complaint was that this unit at least did not catch any trade winds. It faced the setting sun, so we had to draw the blinds in the afternoon and retreat to the stairs in back to keep from sweltering. Even the lawns in from of the unit were too warm. No breeze.

The outdoor highlight were the nenes that visited and serenaded every morning. The view down to the ocean was also breathtaking.

My husband and I stayed at Pali Ke Kua #111 for a week in May and we had a really nice time. The condo is nicely decorated and the view is to die for! You get the same view as the ocean view resort rooms at the St. Regis (located right down the street) for a fraction of the cost. We enjoyed the sunrise every morning and made sure we were back in time for the breathtaking sunsets each evening. The bedroom has an air-conditioning unit, which is good because the condo can get uncomfortably warm...especially in the afternoon hours, and if the trade winds are not blowing. We figured out that if you open the front door to the unit as well as the sliding doors on the back patio, you get a nice breeze flowing through. I will be honest and say that if you are used to keeping your house at home more on the cool side (like I am) you may be a little uncomfortable at times, but overall it wasn't too bad. We loved having a full kitchen to fix our own meals. There is a grocery store about a 5 minute drive down the road, which was very convenient, although prices are high (it's Princeville! haha). There is a paved path down to one side of Hideaways beach. It is steep, but shouldn't be a problem for anyone in decent shape. It leads to the more rocky side of Hideaways. If the ocean is calm, you can climb your way over a rock outcropping to the other side of Hideaways which is much better in my opinion. There is another path...which is steeper and a little trickier than the paved one at PKK, and it's access is located down the street at the Pua Poa condos. I have read other reviews which complain about the ground units experiencing noise, however we never heard anything from the unit above us. I personally preferred being on the ground level because we were able to take the lounge chairs (which are provided on the back patio) and move them out on the lawn for sunbathing and relaxing with the gorgeous view. Overall we had a great stay at this condo. I highly recommend it, especially if you want the best view on the island!

Room Tip: I would definitely make sure you get a condo like #111 that has air conditioning in the bedroom. I c...
