“Best place in Princeville to eat dinner.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

My 3rd time to Kauai. There are not very many places in Princeville to have a sit down and enjoy your dinner kind of place. The Tavern is one of those places. Great view, great service, and great food. Like everything else in Princeville, it is pricey so just get use to it if you like going to a beautiful tropical place that is in the USA. We ate there 3 times in 10 days. Very good food everytime. The specials were great as were the regular menu items, the deserts were wonderful!

“Unpleasant experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

I can't recommend The Tavern, despite it being a Roy Yamaguchi restaurant. My burger was gamey, the service seemed stiff, the atmosphere was below par, and the food had way too much salt.

“Our go-to spot for dinner in Princeville”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

The Tavern was a very welcome addition when it opened in Princeville. We come to the north shore of Kauai 3-4 times per year to visit family, and the dining options can get a little old after a while. All meals are expensive here (we're from Los Angeles and accustomed to pricey restaurants) and most aren't all that great.

The Tavern's food is great - not five-star quality, but I don't think that's what they're going for. The menu has decent variety, the specials are good, and the desserts are awesome.

The best thing about The Tavern, in my opinion, is that they actually have a relatively decent wine list. Most restaurants in Kauai have crappy wine at best, probably because they can't store it at the proper temperature.

We dine here at least once every time we come to Kauai - and we look forward to it.

“Good Food, Great Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

Located in the new clubhouse on the Prince Course in Princeville. We had 4 adults and two children with us, and there was food on the menu that appealed to everyone. Excellent fresh fish dishes. The service was outstanding, with a patient and smiling waiter who dealt well with kids who couldn't make up their minds. The atmosphere is casual, with big windows looking out on the golf course and the mountains behind. All in all, an excellent choice.

We dined after our round of golf and the food was really good. I loved the Hummus! Service was good.
