“Roy's home cooking? Yes please!”

Comfortable, spacious restaurant, and great comfort food to go with it. The mai tai, ribs, and pineapple upside-down cake were wonderful.

“If you have the clams say aloha!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

The absolute BEST Mai Tai in Kauai! Order it. No questions.

This place is expensive, but worth every penny if you can spare it. I came here twice just to see if everything on the menu was as delicious as the rest and it is. Every dish has its own unique twist (E.G. Basil in a Mai Tai) and everything is made with fresh ingredients. So good.

Just know this restaurant is more or less in the basement of a golf club, so if you show up after sunset you'll more than likely question if you're in the right place. You are.

Another tip:
Call and make a reservation unless you want to wait to be seated.

Either way order a Mai Tai.

“Happy hour - unbelievable!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

We decided on a light dinner tonight so thought happy hour at The Tavern at The Prince Golf Course might "fit the bill". Given the price of the appetizers ($2 - $8) we were expecting small portions so ordered the salt & pepper chicken wings, humus, flatbread, & frites (French fries). When the food came we were overwhelmed by the quantity and then the quality! These were among the tastiest appetizers we've had in a long time. Chicken wings were crisp & flavourful, humus was tasty and came with flatbread, the separate flatbread appetizer was grilled crispy with basil, olive oil & tomatoes and was outstanding, and the French fries were crispy. Service was very good as well. Note that HR is only from 4:00 & 5:00.

“Fun with Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

My wife and I ate there twice during February. It has a spectacular view over the golf course, which is beautiful as well. Going early, before sunset, seemed sensible in light of that and we had a super view, with a window seat on one occasion. But it doesn't matter--there are two walls of windows. My wife had the $19 hamburger both times; I had it the first time. Quite a burger! Deep fried bacon strips with Panko breading. Good avocado; safely available rare--local beef. Second time I had the catch of the day--can't remember the name,, but it was well-prepared and very tasty as were the accompaniments. Liquor prices, at least for wine and beer, are reasonable.
Servers were both very good as well.
