“All Around Good Choice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2011

Excellent service by "Darin".
Eclectic Menu to satisfy any style of appetite.
Best value for your $ may be the braised beef shank.
Interesting wine list.
Prices right in line considering location, menu, preparation.
Atmosphere a bit noisy, but view is outstanding.
Recommend reservation, but there is a bar if you don't mind waiting.

“Great, but inconsistent”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2011

Our family went three times to the Tavern. The first time was amazing. Excellent service and some of the best drinks I've ever had. Very reasonably priced. The second time I was served what must have been the worst margarita I've ever encountered. The third time I didn't go but family said drinks and food were back to excellent. Service seems to be an ongoing theme on Kauai with people coming and going. If you get a good bartender and wait staff this is definitely a must go if you are staying in princeville. The view is excellent as well.

“Casual but nice setting, excellent food."”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2011

This is a Roy Yamaguchi restaurant, so you can count on good food. However, this restaurant has lower prices than most of Roy's restaurants, and none of the pretentious staff we encountered in the Kahana location in Maui. It's located on the Princeville Golf Course on the road to Hanalei from Princeville. I had fried chicken, something I never order (especially in seafood country), but it was excellent.

“Food Great, Service not so good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2011

Our party of 4 stopped by for lunch, the place was empty. This is possibly due to the Golf Course being closed for updating. We had been here before when it first opened in Nov. 2010 and knew the food was good. We ordered the Margherita pesto flatbread.....DELICIOUS!, the Pineapple sausage....good, the Blackened fish sandwich...very tasty and the Caesar flatbread salad which has anchovies on it (ask them to remove if you don't like). Our friends loved the food and thought the prices were very reasonable. The only downside was the service, but it may have been due to him being the only one doing it all. He was the Bartender, server, greeter, etc. While I understand that business is a little slow at lunch for the time being, there really should be at least 2 people on to wait on customers. Our Server was rushed and not very helpful or friendly.....if we hadn't been here before we would think twice about coming back just because of the service. While we were there another group arrived, they asked if they could sit at the regular restuarant tables and they were told, "well the further you sit away from me, the longer it will take me to serve you".....who says that? Maybe a little a little refresher in customer service will help to get things moving along here. : ) Otherwise, if you just want something yummy to eat, give the Tavern a try.
