“Romantic Evening”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

The staff was very attentive and the chef was accommodating with respect to modifying the menu such as "sauce on the side." The fish was excellent and well presented.
When we came in we were asked if there was a special occasion. It was our 10th anniversary and were very surprised that we were not offered a dessert or glass of champagne; we were confused as to why they asked.

“It Gets No Better!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

Celebrating our 30th anniversary, my wife and I decided to go to the Kauai Grill on our last night in Kauai. The ambiance of this place begins when you meet the valet at the hotel entrance, and continues thru the lobby of the hotel until you reach the restaurant. We got there a little early to get a window table to view the sunset (which turned our to be gorgeous-do this if possible). We opted for the tasting menu-an absolute HIT. Our waitress was pleasant, but not always around (we wanted coffee and had to wait for her to come by, even after our desserts were served). The servers were just excellent. We have eaten at other "5 Star" restaurants, and this one is near, if not at, the top (we have paid much more for the same type and quality of food; view-wise the Kauai Grill will be hard to beat). This is an awesome place and the food matches the unbelievable views. !!

“Stunning views, fantastic dining”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

For our last evening meal before our flight back to the mainland, we chose to dine at the beautiful St. Regis, and the Kauai grill. If you're looking for a view that is unmatched on the island, it is located right here. Reservations are recommended, and they will let you get up from your table to go get pictures of the sunset which is awesome.

We started with some cocktails - I had the Passion Fruit Whiskey fizz which was strong, and wonderful. My husband had the Pineapple Mint Caipirinha and he loved it. My Mom was hohum about her Cherry Yuzu Bellini, but it did grow on her. The starter bread was very good, although pretty standard.

For our entrees, my Mom ordered the Roasted Carrot and Avocado Salad which was a delightful mixture of roasted, colored carrots with avocados and sprouts with a cream cheese dressing that she liked. She also had the simply grilled King Salmon and of course, it was great. I had the nut and seed crusted Mahi Mahi paired with the spring peas and shallots. My Mahi Mahi was great, served in a brown, soupy sauce and vegetables. It was a very light sauce and although soupy, was very complimentary to the light fish. The peas did not really impress me but they were very fresh and al dente. My husband ordered the Soy Glazed Short Ribs paired with the Roasted Ali'I Mushrooms. Everything was very flavorful and fantastic.

For our desserts, my husband had the cheesecake, and I had the strawberry shortcake. His came with a rhubarb sorbet which was both peculiar and delicious. My strawberry shortcake was wonderful as well with a very flavorful strawberry sorbet. The only sorbet that we have had that has compared to Kauai Grill's has been that of our favorite restaurant ever, (now closed) The Tavern of the Sergeant Recruiter in Paris, FR.

The service here is impeccable from the hostess station to the manager, who came to ask how our meals were. The waiters at Kauai Grill are classically trained and professional.

So, if you're looking for that million dollar view, at a swanky hotel and you're willing to pay the higher prices associated with both then Kauai grill is a must try. There are comparable meals for a little cheaper on the island - but the experience is amazing. Book reservations about an hour before sunset and get there early. The up-front view seating is limited. Parking is valet only so bring some cash.

“Great Service & Views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

We had dinner at Kauai Grill one evening, with a table by the expansive window looking out onto Hanalei Bay and views of the sunset. We tried the tasting menu - the Spring Pea Soup and the White Chocolate and Yuzu Pavlova are sublime. One member of the staff (who initially provided us with water) was unfamiliar with the availability of certain drinks that we asked for, but this was soon rectified by our main server. Apart from this minor exception, the service was excellent, attentive and professional, and among the best we received in dining spots in Princeville.
