“Love this place, can I stay longer???”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

I am an owner here, but the friends that come with me and I just love this place. the property is clean and well maintained. The people are VERY helpful and friendly and I can honestly say I relax when I'm here. Rooms are spacious and if you get the two-bedroom there is plenty of room for a group of you.. We have a girls trip here almost yearly and I come twice a year. You have privileges at the St. Regis with a shuttle between the two, so it's an easy change to have "a day out" at the St. Regis without really going anywhere. One of my favorite places to stay

Great hotel for a trip. It's nice that the rooms are equipt with a kitchen. The service is above average and the staff is friendly. The pools are very beautiful! The only disappointing thing is that the hotel is not on the beach. There is a shuttle, however, that will take you to the beach.

Dear Bella92694: We are delighted to hear that you had a nice stay with us. Thank you for recognizing the above average service levels and the friendly staff. The resort is located 200 feet above the ocean on the ocean cliffside overlooking the vast Pacific Ocean. There are 4 pools located at the resort and in addition, our guests have access to the exclusive lap pool located at the Makai Golf Club. The north shore of Kaua’i has some of the best beaches in the islands. Our staff provides a Beach Guide that outlines beaches that are within driving distance from the resort. The guide includes facilities located on the different beaches, what they are best known for, whether it be snorkeling, building sandcastles, paddle boarding or more. In addition, the guide provides driving directions and ocean safety information. We hope to see you back soon. Be Well!

If you are traveling to Kauai, the Westin on the north shore is the place to stay. Great location, great service, restaurant, and fantastic pool side bar. Chris and Cass are great bartenders, make awesome drinks, very friendly and give great advise on the local scene. A must stop for a Mai Tai. Prices are much better than other over priced resorts. And do not miss the Sunday Brunch a mere 5 bucks more gets you 3 glasses of champagne.

Room Tip: September, October best months

Aloha Ron H. Thank you for your review and for recognizing the great service. It is nice to hear that you enjoyed the Wailele Bar located poolside and interacted with both Chris and Cassidy. The Wailele bar does provide a nice drink menu including a great Mai Tai and other tropical drink delights. Nanea Restaurant offers nice island inspired cusine and also offers a separate gluten free and vegan menu for those with dietary restrictions. The Sunday Brunch is popular with both guests and residents and does provide an option with or without champagne. Thank you for stating that we are a Great Place to Stay. We hope to be welcoming you back in the near future. Stay Well!

We love this place. Really nice comfortable and upscale studio units (big rooms with nice mini-kitchens). However, there is no beach on the property. What you lose there you gain in altitude and vistas. The reciprocal privileges with the St. Regis work just fine, though it's a few miles away, so requires some planning ahead. We were in Bldg 4 which we thought might not be the best, but has a hidden upside -- beautiful panoramic horizon view of the ocean and "Bali Hai", and a nice sunset view as well. Rates in Bldg 4 might be a bit lower since it's far away from the ocean front, but again, hidden benefits! Nice pools but better to get up early and go to Hideaway Beach for great snorkeling! Peaceful and refined.

Room Tip: Bldg 4 has nice golf course ocean horizon Bali Hai views though technically the rooms are not ocean...

Aloha peter s. Thank you for your review. It is nice to hear that you enjoyed the comforts of home with the studio villa which provides over 500 square feet of living space and includes amenities such as the fully equipped kitchen, whirlpool tub, separate shower, the Westin Heavenly bed, complimentary high speed internet access and more. The resort is located 200 feet above the Pacific Ocean on a bluff overlooking the ocean within the Princeville Resort area. Although the resort is not a beachfront location, the north shore of Kaua’i has some of the most beautiful white sand beaches. The staff will provide our guests with a Beach Guide that outlines beaches that are near the resort and the facilities and activities available on the various beaches along with driving directions and ocean safety information. We hope you will return for another peaceful visit soon. Mahalo and Be Well!

Book at the Westin not realizing its not a hotel but timeshares. That being said, we really enjoyed it after figuring out the differences.

We booked a "studio" with one queen bed - which when we checked in seemed small. We called the front desk and paid $75 to upgrade to a one bedroom unit. Worth every penny. This one had a king sized bed, much larger bathroom, and most importantly, a living room plus complete kitchen. We used the washer/dryer frequently. The full sized refrigerator was nice but the ice maker was totally awesome for our visit.

We were in building 6. There is a nice "Na Pali" pool near the building with an infinity pool and hot tub. (This is in addition to the large resort pool and another small pool between two other buildings.) Our pool was very quiet and almost no kids. (They seemed to like the much larger resort pool with the kiddie pool next door to it.) Really liked the thatched umbrellas. Very popular.

A few things I wish they did better.
1. you had to go to the main pool (with your cards) to get towels ... a bit inconvenient when you wanted to stay at the pool near our unit
2. no newspapers. They are happy to sell them to you - but no free newspapers. When I asked why, they said they were not offered at timeshares
3. gym is fairly small ... had to wait multiple days to use precor
4. no fitness classes offered ... would have enjoyed a class or two

All this being said, I would stay here again. We visited the St Regis next door for happy hour. Not sure what their rooms look like - but the resort, while beautiful, was crowded. The beach and pool had very few empty chairs and they seemed packed in (versus spaciously set). Small beach. Plus it was over $100 more a night than the Westin (even with our upgrade)

Room Tip: we stayed in building 6.... nice private small pool between bldgs 6 and 7 ... plus easy access to se...

After spending the last few vacations at the Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas on Maui, we opted for something a little more laid back on the island of Kauai. We spent a week here in July and had a great time.

My mom is an owner and so we went as a family of four. She stayed in the studio apartment that adjoined our one bedroom. The location was ideal as we were on the second floor at the end of the hallway so had no one above us. Our view was of the ocean and grounds, including the big lawn where they have a cabana for massages. It allowed us beautiful views of sunrises.

The grounds are beautiful and lush. There are four pools. One main pool has two levels and was the most crowded. There is a kiddie pool with a slide right next to it. There are two smaller pools. One of them has no ocean view and was practically empty. The other has a perfect ocean view. The only challenge with going to one of the two smaller pools is no bar service or towels. You have to go to the main pool for those.

This was our first time traveling to Hawaii with my then 4.5 month old daughter. When we arrived, a crib was already set up for her and there was a high chair in the room. We were also supposed to have a diaper genie, which arrived as soon as we called and reminded them. We had ordered a stroller through an outside rental agency and it was not in our room upon arrival as promised. After several calls to both the agency and the bell desk, it was finally located. We appreciated that they provided the crib, diaper genie and high chair for us.

Our one bedroom was great. We had a huge kitchen where we did a lot of our cooking. There was a large table for dining, a nice living room and a great balcony. The bedroom included a comfy king size bed. The bathroom was spacious and included a huge shower and nice whirlpool tub.

The first night there we had dinner at the Wailele Bar. The food was very good. However, we did not like how limited the menu was and the fact that 3 burgers and 3 drinks cost us almost $100. We understand that it is Kauai where everything costs more, but we had hamburgers, not steaks!

The only other option for dinner at the resort was a very expensive sit down meal. There is a small deli on property, but it is definitely a better deal to go to the local Foodland and make your own food. There are tons of barbecues throughout the resort.

Dabney was our concierge representative and she was wonderful. Not only did she set us up for dinners and excursions, but she stepped up when a tour I booked was not as advertised. I was extremely disappointed and helped me get a full refund.

One of the things I did not really care for about this property compared to the one on Maui was the Monday vacation kick off. While they did serve a nice guava mimosa, that was all they offered. The Maui vacation kick off had fruit and pastries. This one had a few vendors make presentations. The Maui one had a pineapple carving demonstration and vendor displays. They gave out one raffle ticket per room and had a small handful of prizes. One woman won two prizes and she was there by herself.

Another challenge was the Internet access. Despite having a wi-fi code, we struggled to get any cell service on our phones. The only way we could get Internet was through the Netbook we brought with us. They would have charged us to use the business center computers.

Overall it is a beautiful property, we enjoyed our vacation and we will go back again.

This is another relatively new, not sold out timeshare property. Some consider it in the excellect category, but those folks have not stayed at a Ritz Carlton or Four Season resort. You get everything you would expect from a newer Westin or Marriott property (note some Marriott's) are nicely converted hotel properties, while the limited number of Westin properties I have stayed at our purpose built as timeshare villas. This one is no exception as it is well equipped and comfortable. The 2 bedroom consists of a lock-off one bedroom with pullman kitchen, full frig, apt-size dishwasher and a washer and dryer. As we had friends staying with us, they made ample use of their own washer and dryer, etc. We used the living room-kitchen-diniing room area as our common area. Each bedroom unit has a bath and separate shower. Look at the website for details of the layout and facilities as it does not contain a lot of hype. A plus for this Westin as if gives you beach privileges at the St Regis (nee Sheraton Luxury Resort) and is only .>1 miles down the road with its famous, dare I say world famous, bar-terrace overlooking Hanalei Bay and those fabulous sunsets. Valet park your car there and drop by as you will not be disappointed. Their top restaurant is not too shabby either as we have not had a bad meal there in the 3 years of visiting Princeville. Their not-so-budget priced Makana Terrace restaurant is very good, too.

Room Tip: Don't be uptight about the location of your room as there are no beach front rooms as there is n...
