Whaler's cove, awesome, we rented a 2 bedroom condo through Parrish Collections who were very helpful, There were a couple of little things broken like two window cranks were hanging from the window and would not work and a blind here and there was broken. The one thing we found strange was no shade in the master shower covering an enormous window that looked straight out onto the lawn. We even went outside to check it out and could see right into the shower stall. It wasn't a problem as we didn't see anyone out on the lawn while we were showering but it was a little unnerving. We found out on check-out that the bathrooms had just be modernized and that was probably why the screen was missing. We had full use of the resort and in fact the condos were better as they are closer to the ocean (very very close...see picture). The resort in general was very quiet and off the crazy track of the larger mega hotels that seemed to be crawling with people. This place is a very nice get away from the mainstream yet still has the luxury. Watch the sunset from the lawn with drink in hand (no glass allowed), what an experience that was. No A/C (didn't need it) and not the most reliable Internet access. Check out the beautiful orchids right in front. Also, full use of the grill in a little garden to the far right of condos.
Would come again, no sweat

We have family that has a place here and we come and stay here very frequently. We love the place don't get me wrong it is beautiful in every way possible! However this year I have come to the realization that it is not a place for kids. Not because of the resort or the surroundings, it is great for that. The problem is way to many old people come here but that I mean 65 plus community. Don't get me wrong I love my grandparents and they all love our kids (8 and 5) but it seems like unless you are literally soaking in the hot tub (12 AND OVER ONLY) or the pool and not making any noise at all you are out of place and given the stink eye by the older visitors here. My children are not hanging from lamp shades or using squirt guns at the pool they are just jumping in and playing and the manager had to come down and tell us to leave more or less. I still love it here but we have to plan our trip with out kids next time in order not to offend the older visitors! So sad that older people get so intolerant of little kids in their old age.

My husband and I stayed at Whalers Cove from Feb 24 to March 1, 08. We were married on Maui and decided to honeymoon in Kauai and at Whaler's Cove. We picked Whaler's Cove due to its seclusion and privacy. The complex is in great condition and offers fabulous views of the ocean. The swimming pool and hot tub are great and virtually no one uses them. So you can have the place all to yourself. They have handy BBQ's to use by the pool and wonderful gorgeous grounds to stroll around on. We stayed in unit 233, which is in building 2 on the top floor. Our condo was a 2 bedroom, 2 storey, with the master facing out to the ocean. Our balcony had a fabulous view of the ocean and pool area. We couldn't have asked for a better spot to spend our honeymoon. The unit had some really nice furnishings, but I hate to say that the condo is in dire need of a reno. It's decor is dated back to the early 90's. The carpet was dirty and a lot of things were very tired and worn. Plus, with the master facing the ocean, it is very very noisy from the waves crashing on the rocks below. There is no air conditioning, and you really don't need it, but if you do have a window open, it will be loud. There is construction going on across the way and you do hear it, but it didn't bother us at all since we spent most of our time touring the island.

Anyway, overall our stay was just wonderful and Kauai is a great place to visit. It is a beautiful place and we will definitely go back soon.

My husband and I stayed at Whaler's Cove for 5 nights last week. We absolutely loved it there. Our condo was beautiful and very, very clean. The view from the lanai is gorgeous. The staff was very helpful. We hated to leave to come home. It was truly paradise!

Plush, plush, plush suite! Sublime ocean views! Relaxing pool! Staff with beautiful aloha spirit. Wonderfully-tended orchid garden. Whalers Cove is amazing.

It's absolutely one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. Granite countertops in the kitchen, beautiful furnishings. Absolute amazing master suite. I wish I lived so nicely here at home.

When we first entered our unit, it was like, "Wow! Wow! Wow!" as we discovered every room and amenity. Then we settled in and all was perfect.

We like the location in Poipu, on the sunny side. It's so easy to drive everywhere in Kauai. Nearby there are plenty of grocery stores, wine shop, video store, surf shops, ice cream, fresh fish, farmers markets, restaurants--everything you need!

Kauai is amazing! Nobody hassling you about timeshares or selling cheap trinkets. The natural beauty of Kauai that we read about is why we were attracted to it, and it's why we will go back. When we return, we will absolutely return to Whaler's Cove.

  • Liked — um, everything!
  • Disliked — That we can't live there.
