“Like being at home...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

We had a phantastic condo right to the oceanfront. Perfectly designed interior and everything was very tasteful (clearly the owner has a good taste). It was one of the most pleasant stays in the entire Hawaii trip. Highly recommended - would be happy tgo return quickly!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013

Just spent the month of August at the Kapili in Unit 4. As always, my stay there was pleasurable. I have stayed in hotels and in numerous condos at the Kapili on the island and have found the condo route is much more comfortable unless you belong to one of the hotel chain frequent stayer programs and just want the points.
Unit 4 is a two bedroom, oceanfront condo. The furnishings downstairs are quite nice and the living room has a flat screen television. The kitchen has a deep sink and granite counter tops. The master bedroom overlooks the ocean and has a comfortable bed. The television in the bedroom (like the television in the spare bedroom) are old and the pictures aren't so good. Some of the condo owners have put flat screens in the bedrooms as well. The furnishings in the bedrooms, like all of the furnishings downstairs are in good shape and are stylish. The master bedroom is the only room with air conditioning (a stand-up, high efficiency unit).
The grounds are clean and are as well kept up as they have been every other time that I have stayed on the property. There are both charcoal and propane grills provided for guest use. The propane grills are the Weber Genesis series and are great to cook on.
The Kapili is in a wonderful location for watching sunsets and is quite popular with the guests who walk out across the small two lane road to watch them. As of late though, it has also become very popular with the younger crowd who like to pull over on the other side of the road, crank up their stereos, and drink and be loud (they can also become pretty vulgar and have been known to yell at the tourists as they walk by). It is for this reason that I gave the Kapili a four star rating instead of the five star that I usually give them. Had I been here on vacation I may even have given them a three star rating this time, though they have no control over what people decide to do when they pull over on the side of the road.

Room Tip: Choose a condo away from the oceanfront due to the noise around sunset.

Poipu Kapili Unit 36 - this condo complex in Poipu worked out great - very good location, short walk to the beach, nice pool. Office staff were friendly and helpful. The unit looked exactly like the pictures - the decor is a little dated but the space is great and the balcony was really nice to have. We would definitely recommend this complex. It was convenient to have a kitchen for breakfast in the morning, etc.

Room Tip: All rooms seemed to have at least a distant ocean view.

GO CONDOS - Kapili was the only condo place who would accept our 3 nights stay - Thanks Kapili!!

We decided to try and book a condo at Kauai because the reviews for the Sheraton were pretty dismal and reading reviews from Trip Advisor it sounded like Poipu was the best area to stay on the island. Generally, condos are cheaper and with our kiwi dollar I went to search for something affordable. The issue we came across was even though the condo places said they'd accept 3 nights minimum, when we actually made email enquiries they all turned us away or did not even respond, and they tried to convince us to prolong our stay. However, we had booked our flights 6 months out on specials so there was no way of changing. We must have been turned away by at least 10 places and I was getting pretty desperate.Thank goodness Kapili was so easy to deal with and they were very professional.

APARTMENT 26 - FELL IN LOVE!
OMG, we loved this apartment so much we didn't want to leave. Amazing views and situated right in the centre of the apartment block directly in front of the sea with a less than 100 metre walk to the sea wall. Quiet, peaceful, and the interior was exquisite. Marble Italian kitchen that had everything you could need. Great music selection, even good Hawaiian music to put us in the holiday mood.

We had two bathrooms and a laundry included in one, and you're just asked to wash and dry the beach towels you use before you leave. Instructions all pretty clear. The aircon standalone unit in the bedroom worked really well for us at keeping us cool at night, and the rest of the apartment was sheltered from direct sun (except on our lanai) so it kept cool all day long.

The staff at reception were super friendly and helpful and outlined to us on the map all the good cheap eats - Mexican (in the wall), the local fish market, and local supermarket, and TomKat grill had some good tasty food all located in Koloa Village a 3 minute drive from Poipu.

There was lots of adventures (mainly snorkelling) to be had on the island, so my husband only got to try the pool out once, just before we left - he rated it :-) (not too many kids ;-)

The price for this condo was equivalent to that of a Sheraton hotel room, so more expensive than some of the condos we were looking at - but it was worth it, and for a special treat we'd come back and pay that again - unfortunately 3 nights is kinda our budget limit though :-( ($1200 NZD)

I think our photos tell how much we loved this apartment. It was nicer than our home in little New Zealand. I am now designing my own subtropical garden in our back yard so we can feel like we're still there ;-)

Thanks so much for a wonderful, romantic, more than comfortable place to stay on our first visit to Kauai ever :-))))
(Our accommodation went down hill from there as we visited Kailua-Kona and Waikiki next :-(

We travelled around the entire island in a convertible Mustang (whoop whoop!) and I'm so glad we chose Poipu area to stay at. Wouldn't change anything!! :-)

Room Tip: I think just looking at the photos of rooms available (go to Kapili's website) you can tell what...

Our family of 4 recently spent 11 fabulous days at Poipu Kapili in condo #13. When I first called the resort, Pauline at the front desk helped me select the perfect condo for our family. She made a great suggestion in #13. The condo was beautifully furnished and had plenty of room for our family (2 adults/2 young adults). It had a spectacular ocean view from the master bedroom and a beautiful view of the pool, gardens, and ocean from the lanai. The kitchen was well stocked and had every appliance and utensil you could think of. We even had the use of 3 coolers. The property at Poipu Kapili is immaculately maintained daily. It felt very private due to the beautiful vegetation surrounding each condo, the walkways, etc. You can watch the turtles swimming amongst the rocks out front or take a short walk to a swimming beach. Our first trip to Kauai was extremely memorable due to wonderful accommodations, helpful office staff, and a beautiful setting. We definitely will be back!

We stayed in the 2-bed, 3-bath oceanfront unit #10. Beautiful views, amazing location, friendly staff- overall wonderful stay! It was very clean, spacious, lots of light, a patio sliding door that opened up the entire ocean-facing wall down and upstairs. Well furnished and had a good supply of toiletries, towels, etc. During our 11 night stay, the unit was cleaned once, and we had towel service 3 times, which is nice in a condo rental. The property is kept immaculately, and the pool is large, clean, and has plenty of chaises under shady trees. There are several BBQs and an herb garden guests can use.
The ONLY downside is the lack of air conditioning. Some units (like ours) have an AC unit only in the master bedroom. The majority of units don't have AC. The staff recommended opening up all shutters and windows and utilize the cross-breeze....that didnt work well for the kids' bedroom at night time in August, and it was pretty hot some days. I am sure it is a lot more comfortable outside of those hot summer months. Most condos in Poipu don't have AC. It's really the only issue we encountered, and on most days, it was very pleasant.

Thank you so very much for taking time to post a review. We appreciate every guest who posts here as we know it takes time from a (usually) hectic schedule upon returning from vacation to sit and post your experiences. We presently have 26 condos that have air conditioned bedrooms. There are 2 two-bedroom condos that have installed it only in the master bedroom, Condo 10 being one of those. We will pass along your comments to the owner so that he may consider putting A/C in the second bedroom as well. A/C is noted in the description of every condo that has A/C and you can book a specific condo on-line. You are always welcome to call us if you want more thorough descriptions of individual condos. Our staff is on property in the front office and our toll free number reaches us directly. We are always happy to answer questions and help travelers to compare condos to make the best choice for themselves. Mahalo for sharing your experience with your fellow travelers and giving us an opportunity to respond.

Thank you Cynthia for opening your beautiful home to our family. After a very long flight what better way to start our vacation than open the door to a spacious, very clean and well appointed unit. Not to mention the little extra touches (delicious cookies, coffee, great local soap and shampoo and complimentary snorkel at Snorkel Bob's which unfortunately we did not get a chance to do). This is first class property with an owner that truly cares about providing guests with a great vacation experience. Cynthia promptly answered all of our questions while planning the trip and her local management team (Bill and Kay) were a phone call away and promptly replied to our inquiries while there. The furnishings throughout the unit are casually elegant, perfect for a beach home. The large open first floor was great for lounging around, watching tv or just staring at the beautiful ocean right outside the window. And the kitchen- anything you could possibly need for cooking can be found in the kitchen (great appliances, spices, cutlery.. etc). The bedrooms upstairs were spacious and nicely furnished, the upstairs bathrooms were like new and extremely clean, and the ocean view from the front bedroom was spectacular. Other nice amenities include a nice washer and dryer, beach gear, the option of having air conditioning, and a very nice outdoor patio set to have a meal and sit and watch the surfers in the ocean. The grounds of the property are extremely well maintained with a manicured lawn that looks like green carpet. The property has a beautiful pool which my family enjoyed every day, very nice pool furniture for lounging, and gas grills near the tennis courts. The location of the property was perfect- walking distance to the beach and it was easy to get to points north both on the east and west coasts of Kauai. There are plenty of dining choices and a couple of grocery stores (Big Save and Seouku) nearby. We appreciated the great recommendations for restaurants-Keoki's Paradise being our favorite. Thank you Cynthia for providing us with a great home away from home which made our first trip (and hopefully not our last) to Kauai a great experience.
