We just arrived home from a two week stay at Lawai Beach Resort. It was great, much better than we could have hoped for. The suite was updated, well stocked with all we could need, and very clean and well serviced. The staff were indeed excellent. The pool and grounds were very well kept. The pool and hot tub were however not warm enough for our liking.
If I have one thing only to say negative is that the Roster at 5:30AM every morning was SOO annoying. We closed windows, and bought earplugs but nothing really helped. However the days are short as the sunsets at 6:00 PM so early risers get the most of the day. Due to bad weather we seen a great deal of the island touring.
We would recommend this resort to anyone and everyone.
Thank you.

The resort was wonderful. We had a two bedroom, two bathroom. There was tons of room. The room was very clean and very well furnished. The view out our sliding glass doors was of the beautiful pool and then onto the Ocean. I have nothing bad to say about the resort. I read other reviews on the resort before we arrived and I was worried about the chickens and the ongoing construction nearby. The chickens were no problem. I think the staff must have been keeping them away because they were never a problem on the resort property. The construction was close by and was a little noisy at that end, but that is an unavoidable thing. That construction is probably nearly completed by now. I will definitely be back.

  • Liked — amazing view
  • Disliked — master bedroom didn't get good airflow at night. Other bedroom plenty cool.

The location of Lawai Beach Resort (LBR) was nice. The beach was only a small road away, and the views from the Ali'i building (unit 1203) were very nice, being ocean front / view. The snorkeling was some of the best we've ever done, and it was right in front of the hotel, no more than 3-4 feet into the water from the shore.

While the beach and the snorkeling were nice, unfortunately this was of no merit to this below average resort. They did not bring the fish over, neither did they create the SMALL and very rocky beach in front. The only reason I gave this hotel 2 stars, is because of the location and snorkeling. This resort is 34 years old, has no AC although truthfully we did not need it at night, but got HOT during the day; the furniture, appliances and fixtures were EXTREMELY dated, bringing you back into the 60s at best. The kitchen cabinets smelled pretty badly, thus I had to wash all the dishes, cookware, silverware and glassware before I used them. There are no windows, only sets of glass panels that open and close, and upon arrival, 2 of those were broken, and only one of them was fixed by the time we left. Also, the balcony door and screen door were not locking properly (so much for security, especially since in our welcome package the resort made a point of informing us of recent area break-ins, including homes, hotels and cars!). The maintenance guys attempted to fix the door, unsuccessfully. On the positive side, the front desk and housekeeping were nice and friendly, and despite the negatives of the resort, tried to be as accommodating as possible. The Banyon building pool we used (there were two other) was nice and clean, had a waterfall and a jacuzzi in the back. The front desk had floating noodles for kids to use, free of charge.

All the other reviewers that complained about the noise due to the parking lots being so close to the bedrooms, were absolutely right! Because there is no AC, you pretty much have to keep those window panes open. The noise came from the parking lot, the people talking in the open hallways, and the roosters singing duets and saying "good morning" at 5-6am.

Would we come back here? Definitely not. "The Point at Poipu" resort is a much better alternative, from what we were told (also see the TripAdvisor reviews) by some friends that stayed there.

Stayed for one week as a guest of a condo owner. Traveled in August with my family of 4. Booked a 2 room condo on the second floor of the Banyan building. Was worried about the lack of air conditioning, as another reviewer mentioned, this place was built to use those trade winds. If you opened the vents and windows up, winds whipped through that unit. The unit was huge, jacuzzi bathtub was a bonus. Had a full kitchen with appliances, pots, dishes, washer and dryer in the hallway, two full bathrooms and a TV in each bedroom and the living room. The Banyan pool was great, had a fun "natural" feel with a waterfall, rocks and plants growing all around. Lawai beach is directly across the small road and has amazing snorkeling. Went almost every morning, before heading out for our days activities. Ate on the lanai for breakfast and dinner, watching the sun rise and set. The hotel is set up so many of their rooms have an ocean view. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Kids enjoyed the movie rentals and the mini golf. Internet access was sketchy, but you're in Hawaii - unplug. Hotel is easy to get to and short drives to most sites from Wiamea Canyon to Kapaa. This condo was so comfortable and kid friendly, it really made our vacation, too bad their website doesn't do it justice.

My new husband and i were fortunate to receive a vacation package to The Lawaii Beach Resort as a wedding gift. We stayed at the resort for an entire week at the Coral building.

I would have to say that the vacation was the best of my life and I owe a lot of it to the Lawaii Beach Resort. The room we stayed in was neat, clean and very spacious. We even had an extra bedroom with twin beds that were never used, making us wish (kind of) that we had some of our children along to fill the space. Granted it was a fleeting thought, but nevertheless... Many reviews I had read about the resort before I left made me question the cleanliness and service provided at the resort but I would have to say that I never experienced any of it. All the service providers we came across were always cheerful and went out of their way to be helpful.

The grounds were very well maintained as I noticed were many of the resorts in the area. My husband loved the tiki torches scattered around the property and decided he was going to attempt to place permanent ones on our patio at home. Our room was on the main floor of the building so we did not get a complete unobscured view of the ocean, but it's location was nice in the fact that the pool was only steps away. I enjoyed my morning swims after snuggling on a lounge chair to read almost as much as the nightly soak in the jacuzzi. Some nights there would be a gentle rain as we were in the hot tub and pool yet the stars were shining bright. I loved to float on my back as the warm rain hit my face and gaze at the constellations.

I had also read in earlier reviews how some people were irritated by all the chickens running around the resort and the island. I have to say that I thought they were charming and they were a wonderful piece of local color that I thoroughly enjoyed. I was chasing handsome roosters around the whole trip with my camara in hand.

Every morning I would have a pair of little gray doves that would come to sit by me as I had my coffee on the lanai. Sometimes the male would literally fly to me when I came out of the door. They became my little companions as I sipped my heavenly Hawaiian coffee and gazed at the ocean.

The only downside of the whole experience was that a large group of young males moved in to the rooms next door about midweek of our stay. They were obviously smokers as they would stroll around the grounds with cigarettes in hand. Soon they started smoking in their room, even though it was not allowed, and it would come through the vent into our apartment. To top it off a couple days after they checked in wives or girlfriends and children showed up. There must have been 12 to 14 people in the room. Needless to say their noise and smoke became very overbearing and we needed to tell the front desk. They did settle down some what, but they still kept on lighting up. We had to keep the bathroom fan on 24/7 just to control the odor. Very disappointing....

In conclusion, If we ever get the chance to come back to Kauaii we will definitely attempt to stay at the Lawaii Beach Resort. I wept the whole day we had to leave....
