“Mix of Families + Couples”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

We stayed here for 3 nights and 3 days. Beautiful grounds with very large pools and activities going on all the time. Rooms are pretty quiet which was important to us. If honeymooning, they give you a free cabana by the pool, free bottle of champagne, free dessert at an onsite restaurant and 15% off a spa treatment.

This resort is very large with lots of families and couples. If you tend to like small, personal, boutique hotels or resorts, this is probably not for you. However, if you are looking for a beautiful resort with lots of activity and action going on for kids and adults alike, this is a perfect place. Also, be aware that food is pricey and the taxes and fees that they tag on at the end are a bit high. Go ahead and add $65 to your nightly room rate and that's closer to what you'll actually pay.

My husband and I stayed here for the last 4 nights of our honeymoon from Sept. 10-14. It came highly recommended by numerous friends and family and it did not disappoint!! We wavered on where to stay on Kauai and were we so glad we chose the Grand Hyatt. It is a gorgeous resort on a sprawling property. From the moment you enter the open air lobby, you feel like you are in a tropical paradise. The service was impeccable! Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. The pool areas are spectacular and there are so many places to lounge. The salt water "pool" is great. One of the reasons we were unsure about booking the Hyatt is because it's hard to swim on the small beach here, because of the rough water, and we tend to be "beach people" (versus the pool). But with the ocean right there, you still feel like you are on the beach, especially with the salt water pool/lagoon. Our room was really nice (especially the huge bathroom) and we had a good balcony with an ocean view. And it is really true what they say - it is much sunnier in Poipu than on other parts of the island. The resort has a GREAT gym and an amazing spa (not to be missed!). I would highly recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: Go for Ocean View!

We recently spent a week there with a conference. My wife and I enjoyed it immensely. The room was very nice, clean and comfortable. The pools are excellent as well... there's an adult only pool if you want to avoid the kids. That said, the place appears very kid friendly.

The staff was attentive and obviously there was an emphasis on customer satisfaction.

Some things to know... the hotel is right on a beach but not one safe for swimming, generally speaking. Goggle 'Shipwreck Beach, Kauai for details. The hotel has a saltwater pool surrounded by sand for a more tame experience.

If you love watching the sunset, this isn't the place but it's great for sunrises!

Finally, I don't know if all the rooms have this, but our room's toilet was equipped with a seat that would wash and dry you 'down there' should you so desire. That was interesting, to say the least.

Room Tip: Ocean View was worth it but some rooms are a real trek from the lobby.

I don't even know where to start. If there was a high water point for hotel excellence in the world, then this place would surely have to be near it. Impeccable near ridiculously over the top service standards, incredible grounds and facilities and luscious rooms, this place has it all.
I have never felt so indulged in my life, this place is worth travelling half way around the world for.
The only point for improvement would be to extend the room service menu a little, as it really is gorgeous to sit and eat on your own balcony which we chose to do. I honestly couldn't fault this resort at all, and I've stayed in a few. Keep up the good work everyone !

We had relatives stay at this place and told us that this is where we had to stay on Kauai, and after spending a few days here, can understand why. The pools were fantastic, as was the treatment we received as honeymooners. The rooms were excellent and spacious, and the breakfast buffet had a great variety. The spa was FIRST CLASS - I dare you to find a better one on the Island! If you are looking for relaxation and overall pampering and first class accommodations; STAY HERE.

From our arrival to departure, we experienced the Grand Hyatt hospitality. All the staff ensured that we were looked after and even we did have a few issues, it was resolved quickly. Our room was with an ocean view and the decor of the room suited the ambience of the location. We enjoyed dinning in most of the different restaurants offered, especially Yum Cha.
It is a big resort, so careful planning is depending on your needs, quite area versus close to main facilities. The resort caters for couples and families and with plenty of swimming areas, there is even an adult pool to have a quite surrounding. We certainly will be back to enjoy the tranquility of the resort again.
