Oddly, we were not greeted by Joe or anyone else although Joe did help us find his place by phone and offered assistance if we had any other issues. Being newcomers to Kauai vacations, it seemed a bit difficult at first to get our bearings and find the place after a six hour flight. We found our stay in the Ocean Suite was very comfortable, relaxing and had serene, wonderful views of the adjacent Waikomo Stream stream and cove leading out to the ocean. Often you could see afternoon sunbathing Giant Green turtles, basking on the rocks until sundown. The hot tub on the deck came in handy when we needed down time to relax after adventurous days. Although the ground level pool looked inviting, the pool guy came one day and when I was on our private deck, he looked up and told me he had to shock the pool water. The very next day, we noticed it had lots of dead algae and debris in the bottom. We chose to go to the local beach instead, never used the pool, it was OK by us as Poi'Pu beach was very nice and not overly crowded. We saw a Monk seal on the beach guarded by a rope. Quite a sight.
Sleeping was great, we did need to use the air conditioners which were adequate for the large spacious suite. The suite has lots of windows overlooking the ocean and when the screened windows are opened, they provided nice breeze through the place.
The last day was Sunday and the Kauai Marathon was closing the roads early. We would have like to know ahead of time that this was going on during our stay but only found out details after dinner at the Red Salt restaurant when their resort staff gave us a map of road closures. We had to leave at 4:00 am on a Sunday to get out before the runners.
Overall the stay there was just private, just what we needed. After going to other resorts to have dinner at their restaurants, we saw none that can compare.
