“Gorgeous Setting, Excellent Service, Average Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

My wife and I spent a lovely evening here during our honeymoon. We made a reservation roughly a month in advance so we could get an good table at sunset (6:00pm during early September).

We arrived a little early and took some pictures while we awaited our table to be ready. The grounds are great and the sunset view is stunning. A lot of people do go stand out on the grass between you and the water, but don't detract too much from the beauty.

The service was excellent. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. The mixed drinks were made well and tasted great.

The food, however, was not at the same level as the rest of the restaurant. The portions were large, seeming to overcompensate for their lack of flare. The calamari were good, but we found the salad to be overpowered by goat cheese, the pork to be dry, and the Ono ("catch of the day") to be of good stock, but boring preparation and lack of standout flavor.

But the dessert.... save room for the dessert. This broke the trend of the rest of the courses. Instead of piles of food, it was a beautifully plated molten chocolate cake (baked to order) served with ice cream. It was great to split and delicious.

Overall I cannot say anything was "bad" because it wasn't, but there are certainly other places on the island you can spend the same amount of money on and get a better meal and similiar dining experience.

Go there and order a drink at sunset, enjoy the view, and then go grab a Puka Dog instead.

“meal with a view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

The meal was excellent although the waitress was a little slow. She only seemed to be as friendly as she had to be. Save room for the sorbet trio, you'll enjoy it.

“Anniverary Dinner”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

We booked a table 3 weeks before our trip to celebrate our 22nd year wedding anniversary. We had been to the Beach House before and always had a great dinner. This experience was very average. We specifically requested a table with a view and we told the hostess we were willing to wait past our 7:45pm confirmed reservation for a great table. We arrived at 6:30pm to watch the sunset. At approximately 8pm after seating many walk in traffic, I finally inquired about our table. We were then taken to a table in the bar area with concrete floors overlooking the parking lot. NOT what I had waited for. When we asked to be moved we got a slightly better table, while still in the bar. I'm giving this an average review verus poor because our server was great. The manager never came to our table after the hostess obviously knew we were unhappy. This restaurant has gone way down hill for the money. Go for a sunset drink but don't spend your money here unless they change management and the hostess staff.

“Very Beautiful Setting and Good Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

The setting is right at the water's edge in Poipu with an open-air dining area as is common in Hawaii along the coast. The service was great and the food was very good, but not spectacular. This will be one of the most expensive meals you would get in Poipu. Very romantic for a special occasion.

“Romantic and delicious!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

Try to book a sunset reservations, however, do not skip lunch if you have a chance to go back. We voted our dinner experience number one out of all our meals during our two weeks on the island. There is snorkeling and also a place to hang out on the lawn. My husband and I enjoyed watching the nearby surfers.
