“Absolutely Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

We stayed with Lynette & Dan for 11 days back in August this year and we will return! Everything was just perfect. We travelled with our 13 year old son, Tobias, and our friends and we all felt in love immediately with Lynette & Dan & Kila.

Every morning we started with a coffee at the pool area, waiting for the real coffee, which Dan roasts on his own. Magnificent! With the coffee comes the breakfast prepared by Lynette and it took us normally 90 minutes to enjoy breakfast. We enjoyed every dish and on my birthday Lynette made the best chocolate cake for me. Talking to Lynette & Dan every morning was great fun.

We were quite lazy and spent a lot of hours just at the pool. The garden and the pool is so relaxing, that it was actually all the time a burden to go to the beach ;-).
Lynette & Dan had a lot of excellent information what to do and we went for some beaches, took a helicopter ride and sailed the Napali coast.

Our favorite bar was Kalapaki Joes, which is in walking distance, at least if you are used to walk. Of course, there are more fancy and excellent restaurants, but we enjoyed the easy charme of the sports bar. Brick oven Pizza is a must as well.

The rooms are awesome and every evening we enjoyed sitting outside having a glas of wine and a fanta.

If you are looking for an atmosphere like being at home you should stay with Lynette & Dan. If you are an advanced sightseeing driven tourist being on the road from 9 am to 9 pm, please use a hotel and keep the fantastic B&B available for those, who enjoy the lovely atmosphere.

Thank you so much for the unforgettable stay and sorry for being so late with my review.

In celebration of our 40th wedding anniversary this year, we decided to visit Kauai! What a delightful selection! After a stressful start from the frozen tundra of Oklahoma & Texas, it was just fantastic to finally arrive at Poipu Bay B&B. I could tell our blood pressure decreased immediately when we got settled into the Bungalow. After several phone calls to Lynette regarding our late arrival I felt as if I had a new compassionate friend!

We really enjoyed the bountiful breakfasts that Lynette prepared and the wonderful coffee/lattes that Dan presented daily! It was more than enough food to last the day, so our evening meals were all that was necessary (with maybe a small snack in between!! Can't pass up the local fruit or shaved ice stands!) Dan & Lynette were very informative about when/where to travel around the island, so we could make adjustments in our planned areas to visit.

This was such a special trip for us that I don't think staying anywhere else would have been the same. We felt more like family friends than guests. The pool, hot tub and chairs were so welcoming that we spent every morning sitting outside with our first cup of coffee from the Keurig provided in the room. The products provided for the shower were very much appreciated as well. The bed's comfort was exceptional considering we were used to a Tempurpedic mattress! I will be looking for the same bed linens for our home soon because they were so comfortable!

The only suggestions that we have would be possibly putting a small lamp or light fixture near the vanity by the shower. It would help with makeup applications since the mirror is closer than over the sink. Also, perhaps an additional set of pillows to allow choice with a bit more firmness. Mine was wonderful but my husband is used to a more firm pillow.

All in all, we were so happy with our decision to stay at Poipu Bay B&B that we will recommend it to anyone who wants a private, calm, friendly B&B in Kauai. I hope we get to return soon!!

If Kauai is the ideal Hawaiian island — lush and unspoiled — and the South Shore its ideal locale — great weather year-round and superb accessible beaches — then the Poipu Bay B & B is the ideal place to stay, especially for couples seeking a modicum of quiet and privacy as well as ample accommodations and exceptional amenities.

The B & B is not exactly secluded. It is around the corner from the Grand Hyatt on a quiet street just off Shipwreck Beach. But it has its own lovely pool and hot tub and the larger of its two well-furnished suites comes with its own lanai. Owner/hosts Dan and Lynette are gracious, helpful and even entertaining but neither intrusive nor unctuous. In fact it is hard to believe they have the B & B thing down so well after barely two years until you find out that they spent the prior eight years in what amounted to an apprenticeship, affording friends and family with the same ease with which they now host paying guests.

Lynette's breakfasts are special and in our 7-day stay we were never served the same things in the same way twice — quite an accomplishment on an island where restaurant menus tend toward the replicative. And the coffee, oh the coffee. Dan roasts his own and prepares it one cup at a time. Then, when everything is on the table, the owners join in, sharing interesting yet casual banter that makes guests feel as if they have been invited over by good friends.

One other feature sets the Poipu Bay B & B apart. Children are not welcome unless a family rents both suites. That may sound a little harsh but it isn't. Don't get me wrong, I have 3 delightful grandchildren and love them dearly and Dan & Lynette have two grown kids of their own and a seemingly endless supply of nieces and nephews who help out around the place. But there is a time and place for everything and someone else's screaming 5-year-old in the next room adds little to a good vacation.

What are the downsides? Well at first it can seem a little pricey by Kawaii standards, but considering those sumptuous breakfasts and amenities like snorkeling gear, beach chairs and such as well as those sumptuous breakfasts the Poipu B & B is worth every penny and then some. As they say, you get what you pay for and in this case you are getting the best.

Thank you so much for your kind words, One of the advantages of our little B&B is that Lynette and I get to spend time with such lovely people from all around the world and this was especially true during your stay with us. Please come back soon and share some more of your wonderful stories and movie tips.

Sincerely,
Dan, Lynette and Kila

Our stay with Dan and Lynette Booye, innkeepers of Poipu Bay B&B, was truly the most special part of our 3 days in Poipu. The accommodations were excellent. No detail left unattended to. We stayed in the pool terrace suite and it was peaceful and private, surrounded in luscious tropical vegetation opening up to a beautiful pool. The Booyes have the perfect blend of personalities to make their guests feel welcome while at the same time respecting your privacy. Dan is a very entertaining gentleman, and Lynette the perfect hostess. The breakfasts were amazing. We really didn't want to leave. And Keila, their little pooch, had us both smitten after the first day, and we aren't generally overly tolerant of other people's dogs. Great choice!

Steve and found this little piece of paradise through trip advisor and felt that it sounded just what we were looking for . Our milestone birthdays deserved to be celebrated in style after all! Poipu Bay B&B met our criteria 10/10. However when we arrived we were overcome by the sheer beauty of the garden which we learnt had been lovingly created and manicured by Dan and the house was just perfect, the friendliness of Dan and Lynette and the frolics of Kila each morning. Nothing was too much trouble from lush homemade breakfasts and perfect Lattes to sitting around their dining table with the other 2 guests chatting about life and the world to meeting their extended family. Our Bungalow, was perfectly set, very luxurious and almost hidden amongst the green and leafy folds of the garden plants. Everything we needed had be thought of, truly a peaceful location, the pool and hot tub just completed our needs! We fell deeply in love with Kauai and cannot wait to visit again, without a doubt we would stay with Dan & Lynette again. This B&B is perfection....but just maybe I don't want to tell too many people about it?
Thank you Dan and Lynette, and big woofs to Kila xxxx

Room Tip: Hibiscus Bungalow, secluded amongst the trees, very private.

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying here on the first leg of our Hawaiian honeymoon in October and couldn't have been happier. From day 1, Dan and Lynette made you feel right at home. Both being as genuine and kindhearted as they come. We always looked forward to Lynette's incredible breakfast spreads and Dan's famous lattes. Each breakfast varied in choices and each were equally delicious. We stayed in the bungalow which was quiet, clean and comfortable and offered great amenities. Their surrounding landscaping was beautiful and their dog Kila was adorable. Dan and Lynette would always offer great suggestions for some Hawaiian fun while staying there. Since my wife and I love snorkeling, Dan was kind enough to let us borrow his snorkeling sets in addition to anything else we thought we might need. Being conveniently located, we were never more than a short drive away from our daily destination. Should we venture back to Kaua'i, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Highly recommended!

We stayed at Poipu B&B during our honeymoon at the end of Sept. - Oct. This was our first B&B stop of three between Kauai and Maui. We truly could not have asked for a better start to our travels!! We stayed in the Hibiscus Bungalow. The Bungalow was extensively appointed from the dual head shower to the amazing mattress and sheets! Anything you need for beach activities is available for use which was very helpful. The saltwater pool was refreshing and the yard was beautifully maintained with many fun nooks to relax. Dan and Lynette were gracious, friendly hosts. We appreciated their conversation over the delicious breakfasts Lynette prepared each morning. A unique additive to breakfast that caught our eye when we made our reservation were the advertised house made lattes.... wow what a treat!! Dan's house roasted beans truly impressed! The location of this B&B really sets it a part. Within a couple mins you can stroll down the neighborhood path and be at Shipwreck Beach!! Looking back at our trip memories, we truly had the most well-rounded experience at Poipu B&B. Hopefully we can return some time again. Until then, best wishes from VT! ~Bryan & Maria
