My husband and I decided to give Rum Fire a try since it was a short walk from our condo. I called ahead to make a reservation and the hostess told me there was no need since it was "open seating." When we arrived at 8:00 we were asked if we had a reservation. Of course we didn't and ended up waiting for 10+ minutes.
Once we were escorted into the dining area I was surprised to see that the restaurant was at about 1/3 capacity. Overall the dining area gave off a strange vibe. It's as if someone picked up a restaurant in Vegas and plopped it down on the beach of Poipu.
Our waiter was very friendly but failed to give us the specials (which we heard a waitress describing to a nearby table after we had ordered).
I ended up giving Rum FIre 3 stars since the food was actually pretty good. I had the Bacon & Beets and my husband had the Pohole salad. We shared the Pipikaula Flat Bread which was good once we picked the strange, dry beef off the top and the sliders which my husband especially enjoyed. The RumFire Mango Mojito deserves 5 stars on it's own and the Scorched Strawberry...not so much.
I'm fairly certain that we will not be returning to Rum Fire during our next trip to Kauai.
