Loved the condo-very spacious (2 bedroom) with gorgeous views and ocean breezes. Nice beach area and grassy lawn to lounge. Pool was okay and a bit of a walk from our condo. We preferred the beach anyway. Enjoyed the convenience of shops and restaurants across the street. We stayed 3 days here and then 4 days in Princeville. Perfect amount of time in each area for us. Would definitely return to Kiahuna Plantation-much better than staying in a hotel.

“Fantastic expreience at the Outrigger Kiahuna”

Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation

We had such a fantastic suprise with the Outrigger Kiahuna. We were expecting a standard hotel room and we booked the garden view but the accomodation was great. Huge lounge and extremely well equipped kitchen area, and the lanai was fantastic - big enough for a table and chairs and two sun loungers overlooking the beautiful gardens. We were in building 23 that was a 60 second walk to the beach. The other advantage is that there are barbecues for everyone to use dotted around the gardens. And if you want to learn to surf, the surf schools start from the beach at the hotel. A great base from which to explore the area. Pretty good selection of restaurants and a large supermarket in nearby Koloa.

We spent the second half of our honeymoon here and loved it! The property was lush and green and the beach was awesome! Our room was like a little apartment. We had a kitchen, dinning area, couch, TV, patio, bedroom, and a large bathroom. We made pancakes every morning and ate them on our covered patio while the morning rain did it's thing. The rest of the day was warm and sunny but it always seemed to rain in the AM for 15 mins. We were just down the road from Spouting Horn which was great! One of the best things about our room was is had journal in it for travelers and we enjoyed reading about other people's adventures. I think this would be the perfect place to stay for families, but as honeymooners we felt very comfortable! We snorkeled at the beach, rented a boogie board from the hotel and played in the surf. We booked some tours through the hotel and enjoyed them very much! When we arrived the hotel gave us a large box of chocolate covered macadamia nuts which were yummy! If I could I would stay here every year!

We stayed ten days in a garden view condo and were pleasantly surprised. The condo was situated on the second floor of a three-floor building. It was very clean and received wonderful breezes. We often had afternoon cocktails on the lanai and fed the miriad of birds bits of crackers.

Cleaning staff changed towels regularly. Any dirty dishes were put in the dishwashed and cleaned.

We didn't have any problems with vermins of any sort. The bed in the condo we were in was very comfortable and we slept very well.

The open-ness of the condo was great but could be detrimental should a noisy neighbor be next door. Our initial neighbors were a family of five with three children age 5 - 10. They were usually up early and the youngest was understandably excited most of the time. We were often awakened but it was not really a problem.

The resort is good for couples and families.

The property is very substantial. It was about a 5 minute walk to the beach from our condo. The beach fronting this resort was very good. Towels, chairs and other equipment can be obtained from a beachfront "activity center". You can walk next door to other resorts and swim at their beaches. The Poipu public beach has a good snorkeling area and is very close to Outrigger.

Across from the Outrigger there is a busy shopping center that has a range of restaurants and shops. You can walk to these.

We liked this resort enough that we would come back but probably spring for an oceanfront condo next time. My only chief complaint were the communal gas barbeque sets near our condo were not serviceable. Some nights we bought fish at local markets and tried to grill them but the performance was not satisfactory and some parts were missing.

No better property on the island.... period! This is by far the best property for families with children. The Kiahuna is a special place. Great service, well maintained units, fantastic grounds... to let the kids run.
