Loved everything about the resort except the condo itself.

Just spent 6 days at this resort. The location and the grounds are great. In one direction is Poipu Beach Park which is just down a ways by car and has a nice swimming and snorkeling beach with grassy areas, restrooms, and a deli close by. In the other direction is Shipwreck Beach which is only a 5 minute walk away. The two bedroom condo itself was not worthy of its 3 star rating and definitely wasn't worth the rate we paid. There were 5 of us - two adults and 3 teenagers. We expected a king, two twin beds, and a sofa bed. What we ended up with was a king bed, two twin beds, and my 17 year old ended up sleeping on the floor on a thin, 3 inch fold up CUSHION that was tucked away in the closet. A roll away bed was available when I complained but would have cost an additional $20/night. Since she didn't mind sleeping on the cushion, we declined the roll away bed since a lot of times they're really uncomfortable too. The cheap, plastic patio furniture was stained and dirty as was the tile and grout in the bathroomns. The linoleum on the kitchen floor had a big black hole. I kept telling the family that at least the place was clean, until one of the kids scared a pack of cockroaches that was gathered on the kitchen counter in the middle of the night. There is no air-conditioning either but it was windy enough to keep us comfortable with the ceiling fans going and the windows open. I would definitely not recommend this place to a family with more than 4 members.

My family and I stayed at the Aston at Poipu Kai for one week during Christmas and the accomodations were outstanding. It was clean , we were at the beach in less than 5 minutes, and the staff were friendly and very, very, helpful. The grounds are very well kept also. My next trip to Kauai will hopefully be spent at the Aston again.

We stayed at the Aston in September and really enjoyed it. It wasn't luxury-resort accommodations for sure, but definitely adequate and nice. After all, we'd rather spend time out and about and not much time in the condo itself. We had a south-facing unit off the main road.
Really nice view from our patio. The unit did not have A/C which we were worried about, but luckily the bedroom (which had a KING sized bed) was cool at night, and it had lots of fans. The living room/dining room area did get a bit sticky however. We were on the lower level, so perhaps this would be a bigger issue on the top level. The pools weren't awesome, but we were more interested in going to the beach, which is nearby (and very easy to drive to and park). The condo overall was a bit dark and outdated, but not terrible. ALSO, it was stocked with beach chairs, boogie boards, snorkel stuff, a cooler (which saves lots of dough on rentals), plus puzzles for after-dark entertainment!

We stayed at this resort for part of Mothers Day weekend a few years back, found it to be well stocked, comfortable and clean. However the restaurant on the property was just a beach lunch place cafe and there was NO air conditioner. Probably would not return. The beach was a LONG walk from our room and the pool was being worked on while were there.

Probably one of the worst resorts at Poipu...nowhere near the beach and very close to a busy highway. The tennis operation is very good but the pools are not and there are no stores or places to eat close by. Big resort, cheap land I think. Unless you are really careful on what unit you reserve (try for south side, south facing and as far away from Poipu Road as you can get),not a great place. There seem to be lots of other better choices on the beach. Our unit was poorly maintained and the kitchen was a joke.
