“An enjoyable place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

Just returned from a 5-night stay at the Sheraton. Overall, we enjoyed our stay--the room was nice, location was great and most of the staff was friendly and competent. Unfortunately, we booked through Orbitz so the hotel did not get our requested room type (instead of a king, we got a room with two queens) and there was some misunderstanding about the special offers, so if you do book through a third party website, make sure to call the hotel and confirm the details. We really enjoyed the activities (snorkel lesson, yoga, ukulele lesson) offered by the resort which made us feel like we got some value out of the 'resort fee'. Arch at the pool activities was really friendly. The resort hotel, RumFire, was also excellent. Beware: If you want to rent snorkel gear, I suggest not getting it at the resort. The resort charges $25 per day but we saw other places charge $9 for a week! Also, don't listen to the recommendations of the concierge. They gave us recommendations that were better suited for a couple in their 60s rather than our 30s. They also didn't seem very knowledgeable (suggested we go to a lighthouse that we went to and found it was closed for restoration--a concierge should know this).

Room Tip: We stayed in room 3304 which was great because we got a free view of the luau which was fun. It was...

This is a great hotel in a great location on Poipu Beach. The staff are very friendly and the beach bar is a great place to hang out. The new Rumfires had just opened when I was there in March 2012. The food was excellent and the decor is stunning. If you dont want to eat at the hotel, there are some very good eateries within walking distance.

I stayed at The Sheraton Resort for 4 nights in a Partial Ocean View Room which was located over the road from the main building. I found it very good and it was not a problem crossing the road to get to the pool , restaurant , etc. But I would not like to stay any further back as the Garden Rooms are located much further away from everything and they are not as nice.
(I would not go for anything less than the Partial Ocean View) the resort pool is very nice and right next to the beautiful Poipu Beach. The Rum Fire restaurant was very good , buffet $23 for all you can eat and eggs / omletes cooked to your liking by a very friendly chef! The grounds are very nicely set out with Couldrons lit up at night . Poipu has lots of fine dinning , Keokis Paradise was my favorite. An easy stroll through the beautiful Plantation Gardens will take you to the shopping village . I recommend booking a tour of Spouting Horn, Waimea Canyon & river cruise to the Fern grotto and a helicopter ride around the island to view the amazing Napali Coast and Canyon which are not accessible by road. Overall this hotel was very nice and comfortable in a very good location !

Room Tip: Stay on the ocean side , avoid GardenView Rooms

This is the 3rd time my wife and I have stayed at this resort. They have made several upgrades to the grounds that makes this place even better! However, they do make you pay more for your daily resort fee which is now $26 a day. Also, during our most recent stay, the house keeping was the worst it's been. They never stocked enough towels, complimentary water, and coffee creamer until we complained to management. Also, they really need to clean the grout in there showers better. Over though, great value for your money.

The Sheraton Kauai was the first stop on our honeymoon. We arrived to check in after 9p and instantly got the vibe that we picked the wrong resort. We are Starwood members so we picked the Sheraton for the reason of incentives, etc. Our Starwood agent noted we were honeymooners but we were told to remind the front desk upon arrival. We were not expecting a bouquet of tropical flowers upon arrival but we had to ask to get our complimentary leis, room upgrades were non-existent (we were told an upgrade would be possible) and all other services you expect for honeymooners were not present.

Our room was small and one day we had to call to let the hotel know our room was never cleaned. Also, it might have just been our opinion since we are clean freaks but all tables around the resort seemed filmy. Blame it on the ocean air... Who knows?

Breakfast buffet at Rum Fire was ok. Nothing special, nothing amazing...pretty standard.

Outdoor wise, the food and shops were great! Good items to buy and amazing food. We highly recommend Josselin's Tapas... Best food we ate on our entire honeymoon and we went to Kauai, Maui and Oahu.

The ocean was kind of rough...we literally only went in once in 3 days. You take a few steps and your already in 6ft of water with pretty serious waves and undertow. The pool was nice. Calm, cool people... Decent poolside service.... Nice towel guys.

Overall, for the value the stay was fine. We were not spending as much for staying on the south side because we splurged on the St. Regis for the remainder of our stay and skipped to the north. The St. Regis is a must if you go to Kauai. We will review that separately.

Don't forget to stop and see the chickens....they roam freely and they are awesome!

Room Tip: Note as a fellow honeymooner be advised the walls are thin. That is all we are saying. Also, if yo...

We have been in Kauai number of times over the years, but this is the first time we stayed at Sheraton. It is a very wonderful resort. The location is excellent, and it has an excellent beach. The sand is soft and clean. The water is also very clean. From its gardens and ocean front rooms you have a direct and spectacular view of the sunset. The swimming pool is next to the beach and it is very good. The food quality is very good with reasonable prices. We were very pleased with the staff. In fact the manger who handled our reservation and looked after us during our stay (Jamie) is an Ivy League educated individual. They are quite customer oriented. The valet parking service was very efficient. There are good restaurants very near to the hotel. The golf courses in Kauai are magnificent. It is well worth to pay the extra money and reserve an Ocean Front room/suite. I strongly recommend this resort. We certainly plan to go back again.

Room Tip: Reserve Ocean Front Room not an Ocean View Room

This resort is in an excellent location with a beautiful beach, great service and open feeling where you can feel the Hawaiian spirit.. We stayed in the oceanfront deluxe room: spacious, clean and incredible views of the ocean.

All I an say is: we didn't want I leave!
