“Quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012 via mobile

Lovely small hotel. Very serene. Rooms & lanais are small. No pool attendant was very inconsistent with rest of hotel service. A guest should not have to cover lounges with towels or move heavy umbrellas. This lack shows hotel does not deserve 5 star rating.
Red Salt dining was excellent!
Many honeymoon couples were guests.

I took a chance on this place after deciding to go to Hawaii for a quick get away. My wife and I booked our flight and arrived Oct 4th. The very minute we saw this hotel we liked it. Warm welcome by Dean at the valet ( all valet) , directly to the front desk, no line, simple checkin walked to our garden view room and were in in less than 10 minutes. This is a boutique hotel, small yet directly on the ocean. Access is easy and I right out in front was one of the best surf breaks on the south shore. Clean, this staff is cleaning all the time. The rooms are modern with 60' flat screens, the bed is a pillow bed, the bath is modern shower and vanity, lots of light. We stayed on the ground floor garden view, and missed nothing, the patio has a partial view and the odd number rooms are quite private. The dinning was excellent, they have a 5 star restaurant, Red Salt, that we ate at all week, Kauaii coffee every morning, reasonably priced breakfast, the entire staff is super friendly I can't say enough about this place. It has it all, location etc , did i mention the wine list, and the dining! Just excellent service, price, location and staff.

Room Tip: all rooms are a great value, I like the ground floor as much easier to sneak out with my board witho...

I don't know where to start. One of the best experiences I have ever had. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Everything has been thought out and planned for, from help booking a kayak tour of Napali, to hiking recommendations and directions, to facilitating late check-out when they need your room (there's a room you can book to clean up on your way from the beach to the airport). Rooms were beautiful, views were breathtaking. We bought breakfast at the local grocery store, and ate every morning on our lanai as the sun rose.

Room Tip: Get an ocean view room and request a higher floor. Ground floor ocean view rooms offer limited priv...

Great service from friendly and genuine staff, a view of the beach that's only 10 yards away, a great restaurant, lovely pool and two house keeping visits a day, its pretty difficult not to love Koa Kea. Plus its quiet, reasonably priced for a 5* hotel and they gave us a bottle of champagne when we arrived. Couldn't recommend it more highly.

My husband and I traveled to Kauai for the first time this week and based on other Trip Advisor reviews chose Ko'a Kea as the spot for a 4 night stay. What a choice--everything from the rooms to the customer service to the overall atmosphere was impeccable! We have traveled all over the world and have stayed mostly at small, boutique hotels (we find they have more character and often better service)--Ko'a Kea is now at the top of our list! The staff was friendly, warm and genuinely committed to excellence for both our stay here and experience on the island. They seem to love their jobs and their guests! Thanks to the valet team, our check-in manager Pearl and Chris the manager for making this an unforgettable visit. We will tell our family and friends!

Room Tip: Each room has its own private lanai, so try to get an oceanside or view room--we used our lanai ofte...

outstanding EVERYTHING! rooms, service, food, cocktails, setting, beaches, ambience... perfect! but really, EVERYONE we met there was super friendly, helpful and had a postive vibe. we thought it was the perfect alternative to one of the larger resorts flanking either side of this gem. certainly a boutique hotel feel to the place. great pool/cocktail area. every meal we had was better than expected.

Room Tip: ocean view is definitely a plus!

Ko'a Kea was truly incredible. I consider myself a discerning traveller, actually being in the hotel business, and have never felt so at home in a resort, thanks to the superior, professional yet approachable staff in every department. The resort offered a location as close to the ocean as one could get, food and drinks that were unbelievably fresh and innovative with the restaurant being a destination in itself, and the staff were unforgettable. Having left only a few days ago, I already feel homesick for Ko'a Kea and can't wait for a return! There is no better value than at this property, with every detail looked after (most comfortable beds around, high end bathroom products) and every step taken to make the experience memorable with every point of access one has with the staff. The general manager is always around to talk to guests, truly interested in their needs and desires and personally sees to it that guests have a great stay. I am thrilled to have found my new home in Hawaii for those times when the occassion to go back to paradise presents itself!

Room Tip: You really can't go wrong. The property is not large and is excellent from every angle. That sai...
