“First trip to Kauai”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

This was a great place to stay if you are planning to be out and about on your stay on Kauai. The rooms were clean and pleasant, the staff very helpful and it was located centrally for the south, west and eastern shore trips. It was nice that a continental breakfast was offered, fresh fruit, coffe and pastries, although I wish it had started at 7:00 am vs. 8:00 am. My friend and I had a wonderful stay before heading up to the north shore for some additional days. :0)

“Charming, quiet motel within 10 minutes of the airport but a world away.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

Wonderful beds; clean room and beautiful surroundings. Very quiet.
My two sisters and I shared a room with two beds and were quite comfortable. The motel is close to a variety of restaurants just 5 minutes away driving. The airport only 10 minutes.
We were very pleased.

Room Tip: We missed out on the famed breakfast because of leaving too early the next morning at 5:30am.

“Great budget option for people who don't need to be on the beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

This is a great place for the budget traveller. Our room was clean and comfortable. We chose the patio room on the ground floor with a view of the mountain. As others have said, the breakfast was wonderful. Lots of fresh fruit and coffee all day. The room had a microwave and small refrigerator. It is a short drive to the beautiful public beach by the Marriot - about 1 mile. We did have one night where our neighbors were noisy quite late so the walls must be thin, but in general it was quiet. The only issue I had was that we were on an end room and could not get wifi in our room. It was available by the pool. You also can't check in early. We arrived around 2:30 and were told our room wouldn't be available until 3:30. This was not unexpected as they warn you but we have been spoiled by other hotels that do let you check in early. A car is really necessary as there is little to do around the inn unless you walk the mile to the Marriot. Grocery story is a couple of miles away.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! The Kauai Inn and it's staff very much appreciate your feedback, it means so much to us! Our regular checkin time is 3pm, we're sorry that you had to wait until 3:30pm, must have been a busy day for our stuff as it is our season. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you and if you consider us in the future please let us know in advance if you wish to have an earlier checkin and we will try our best to accommodate.

Mahalo and thanks for choosing the Kauai Inn!

Sincerely,

The Kauai Inn Management

“The Kauai Inn, value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

I spent a week at the Kauai inn, a peaceful place with all amenities for a budget traveller. Excellent view from the balcony, a garden with random beautiful peacocks and other exotic birds. Safe parking place, delicious breakfast with fresh tropical fruit like coconuts, mango, pineapple...

Clean and comfortable, staff unobtrusive, yet helpful if necessary.

A slight disadvantage: most beautiful beaches on the island are not in Lihue, to get to them from here you need at least half an hour drive. On the other hand, this place is close to the airport, so it can be convenient if you arrive on a late night flight or have to leave on an early morning flight.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room with the balcony overlooking the exotic scenery or the mountain, not the ne...

“Ok for a night after arriving late on Kauai”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

I stayed at the Kauai Inn after having arrived late on Kauai. It is about a ten minute drive from the airport, so conveniently located. A bit weird n the middle of an industrial area, but the grounds itself are very nice. My standard room was quite big with two queen beds, but worn and dated. Paint was chipping from the gold (!?) sink, bed spread was old, and most importantly the room smelled really badly, a bit like insect repellent. In all fairness, I didn't try to change the room as it was already quite late and I thought the smell might go away after opening all windows and doors - it didn't. What I really liked was that breakfast was included in the room price. It consisted of bagels, pastries, muffins, fruit and coffee and you could take it to your room and have breakfast in bed. The price was ok in comparison to other hotels in Hawaii, but I find all of them overpriced for what you get....

Room Tip: Maybe rooms with wooden flooring don't smell as bad. Try and get one of those!

Thank you for your review! During this busy season unfortunately we've run into overbooking and are doing our best to make sure that doesn't happen again. We apologize as you happened to be part of the overflow that ended up in one of our rooms we reserve for commercial guests, not tourist. Your feedback means a lot to us and we hope you might consider us in the future!
