I stayed at the Kauai Inn after having arrived late on Kauai. It is about a ten minute drive from the airport, so conveniently located. A bit weird n the middle of an industrial area, but the grounds itself are very nice. My standard room was quite big with two queen beds, but worn and dated. Paint was chipping from the gold (!?) sink, bed spread was old, and most importantly the room smelled really badly, a bit like insect repellent. In all fairness, I didn't try to change the room as it was already quite late and I thought the smell might go away after opening all windows and doors - it didn't. What I really liked was that breakfast was included in the room price. It consisted of bagels, pastries, muffins, fruit and coffee and you could take it to your room and have breakfast in bed. The price was ok in comparison to other hotels in Hawaii, but I find all of them overpriced for what you get....
Room Tip: Maybe rooms with wooden flooring don't smell as bad. Try and get one of those!

Thank you for your review! During this busy season unfortunately we've run into overbooking and are doing our best to make sure that doesn't happen again. We apologize as you happened to be part of the overflow that ended up in one of our rooms we reserve for commercial guests, not tourist. Your feedback means a lot to us and we hope you might consider us in the future!
