We love the Kaha Lani and have returned here to vacation four times. The location and view are fantastic, but its a quiet and low-key place. Nearby is the best swimming experience at Lydgate park - its like swimming in an aquarium. Also nearby is the wonderful Wailua golf course, nice restaurants and grocery store in Kapaa. We have always had a nice condo with internet access, cable TV, and well maintained furnishings. The grounds are well maintained and clean. The staff are helpful and friendly. In January whale watching is wonderful special treat at Kaha Lani. We have vacationed all over the world, and this is definitelly our favorite place.

We had a wonderful vacation celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary at the Castle Kaha Lani. It far exceeded our expectations. It is in a great location, only minutes away from really everything. Unit #120 was clean, nicely decorated, and comfortable. Its back doors were oceanfront and facing east so we could watch the beautiful sunrise every morning.We were a little nervous about the lack of air conditioning initially, but the ocean breeze and ceiling fans kept the unit cool especially at night. We would definately stay there again and highly recommend it.

1 Bedroom with an Ocean View, Full Kitchen stocked with all that you would need to cook. Laundry Facilties on site, BBQ area, Nice Pool and a Great Location make a Great launching pad to Explore from.
Go to the Beach in front of Units, its Deserted and 2 miles long the Sand is so soft... Water can be a bit Choppy with the constant Tradewinds but water is always warm.
Lydgate State Park is next door where you can go swimming in Ocean in a Protected area.
Located in the Central part of Kauai you can easily reach anywhere from this location in a short time.

Unit 108 needs updating and TLC. I'll start with the Good.
Nice location, close to Kapaa but without all the traffic. Grounds are well kept. The beach is NOT a swimming beach but very pretty with a nice walking path. Close to lydgate beach. The staff, maintance people and security folks were all very friendly. Lots of extras in the unit: books, beach stuff etc.

Now for the Bad & Ugly....We found mouse dropping and dead bugs in the cabinets and drawers. The ceiling fan in the master bedroom only worked on the lowest setting. The curtains are completely sheer so NO privacy at night in the master bedroom or living room. The walls are thin so if there's someone above you, you hear every step they take. The bedding should be replaced. We actually asked for new pillows because the ones provided were just too gross and stained. Bottom line, the unit needs TLC and updating. We have been to the island many times and always look for somewhat modest accomodations and the price was reasonable but even at that price there are something things that just were not acceptable in my opinion. By the end of the trip I had forgot about the "bad & ugly" but wanted to make other travelers aware of what to expect.
