Five members of our family stayed at the Kauai Beach Villas and we loved it. Our condo was right on the beach and had unbelievable views. You do have to get used to how windy it is on this part of the island, hard to bbq. The one negative was that the pool for the complex was a joke. Not even worth going to. Our pool in our home in Florida is bigger, and the jacuzzi was ridiculously small for that size of a complex. The noise from the adjacent dirt bike track was not an issue for the condos that are located on the water, but might be if you're towards the southeastern part of the property away from the ocean.

The property is centrally located close to almost everything on the island. All in all it was worth the long trip from Florida.

My husband and I had our honeymoon at the Pahio Beach Villas in January 2007. We stayed here because my husband's grandma owns an RCI timeshare and she let us use some of her points or something.

Our room overlooked the ocean and a little stream of some kind. The grounds were pretty, except for the ponds all had brown water. There were interesting waterfowl roaming around the grounds and lots of pretty flowers. The pool was freezing, so we didn't use that much.

We didn't swim in the ocean because they had dangerous surf warnings or whatever the entire time we were there. From what I understand, it sounded typical for January. It was fun to walk on the beach though.

The beach villa was way bigger than I thought it would be. It had a nice roomy bedroom, a big kitchen stocked with utensils and plates and everything, two bathrooms, two TVs, a patio, a living room set up and more.

My one complaint about the room probably can't be helped. It was so humid there that our towels never completely dried when we hung them up. That's the same thing I experienced in Florida, another spot known for being humid. I'm sure there isn't much that can be done about that. I wasn't really going to let that get in my way of having fun, like some people would.

It was nice that we could use the restaurant at the Hilton, which shares its grounds with the Beach Villas. We also had some cocktails at the bar there. In addition, we had a traditional Hawaiian meal and watched a great production of the musical "South Pacific" at the Hilton. I'm pretty sure we were the youngest ones there. (We were 21 and 22 at the time). I guess if you are looking for lots of action, this probably isn't the hotel for you. :)

It was in a good location for us. It was right near Lihue, where we often stocked up on groceries. The morning after we arrived, we sat through a welcome presentation/breakfast that lasted about an hour or less. They explained what attractions were nearby and how to sign up for them. The breakfast was yummy with lots of fresh, exotic fruit. They also gave us shell necklaces.

Overall, good experience on this trip, other than the fact that it took almost the whole time to adjust to the four-hour time difference. :) Perhaps I was so blissfully happy about being married that I overlooked some negative things. Who knows. It worked for us and we had a great time.

  • Liked — lots of space in the villas, ocean view/balcony
  • Disliked — If I had to pick, maybe the brown water? haha

We just got back from Kauai - we stayed at the Kauai Beach Villas from 6/18-6/25/2008. Specifically we stayed in an oceanfront 2 br unit - unit H-11.

We booked through Chad Slayton at http://www.hawaiibeachhomerentals.com. The condo was more than we had hoped for - the views were to die for - every morning we enjoyed the sunrise over the surf off the balcony. (The time change from the mainland made this much more doable.)

Next door is the Hilton Kauai Beach Resort. 2 days we paid $15 for our family to use their pools and slide. My kids were in heaven.

We saw a monk seal about 1/4 mile down the beach one morning - just napping in the sun.

The unit itself was very nice. Everything you could need/want in a vacation rental. We made a stop at a farmers market and at the costco in Lihue and stocked the fridge.

The Kauai Beach Villas are a combination of time shares and privately owned units. This was a private unit. The ocean front nature and the fact that it was a two bedroom allowed us to open the windows in the front and back and let the tradewinds ventilate the condo... no need for noisy AC.

The island itself was wonderful. Our kids enjoyed the snorkeling at Ke'e beach and Poipu Beach Park. We enjoyed walking on the beach, eating at House of Noodles in Kapa'a and Oki-Diner in Lihue. I wish I was still there.

  • Liked — The view from the balcony.
  • Disliked — The front door was tricky to unlock

Went here on an RCI exchange. After reading reviews I was a bit apprhensive to say the least. I was pleasantly surpirsed that so many of the negative comments were wrong. Wonderful place, we had two rooms, one in bldg F that had a good ocean view and one in bldg A that openned to the pool and lagoon area. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location is awesome. Can't say enough about the resort. I would recommend it to anyone.

We exchanged through RCI - top notch timeshare and got something much less. Unit was average in size for a 2 bedroom but very tired and run down. Reservations were for an ocean view but that didn't happen. There was no view unless you like to watch at the Hilton Hotel driveway across the lagoon. Could see the spa and workout room across the water but could not use them. The pool area was average for a motel 6 on the interstate. The resort as a whole was was a big let down. We spent the $15.00 a day to enjoy the Hilton Pool next door, service and staff there were much better. The staff was lacking in service, maintenance crew was uninterested in making accommodation's when they turned off the water for several hours one day. Lihue is a great central location on the island, but these villas aren't the vision of Hawaii you have, however the Windham Resorts has purchased the property and that may give hope to a major renovation, the only way we would come back. Would definitely stay at the Hilton or Marriott on this side of the island.
