“Slice of heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

A gift for my 68th b-day. What a treat. My husband is an experienced fixed wing airplane pilot so our flight with the owner/pilot, Bruce, was designed to view Kauai from above AND to share with a fellow pilot, the joys of such an experience. Bruce and his Cessna 172 were more than up to the task. It was a very informative opportunity to learn about Kauai wonders with a career islander who loves what he does. The staff was very professional and the flight a highlight of our time on Kauai.

“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013

Anyone who visit's Kauai Island MUST take a trip with Wings. Skip the other company's and go with Wings! Our Pilot Josh was fantastic and Dori who helped us out before hand was great and even had her dog there for us to play with! The experience for myself and my wife from start to finish was beyond great. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcome, and Josh really showed us pretty much everything around the island with some great circles around the key spots on the island. The scenery from the air is insane, and the film and television sports we got to see were so cool to see. (Jurassic Park, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park 3, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Fantasy Island just to name a few) We recommend this to everyone!

“After 10 Years ... We Can Now Say : "We Have Really Seen Kauai"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

We have come to Kauai every year since 2003 and thanks to the wonderful folks at Wings Over Kauai we have been able to view the island that we love so much in a spectacular way!!! All of the many wonders that make Kauai so famous are simply "jaw droopingly beautiful" when viewed from a fixed wing tour. Sherry checked us in and presented a great preview of what to expect. She made us feel very comfortable. As soon as we met our pilot, Josh, we knew we had selected the right tour company. His professionalism, enthusiasm, and friendly manner combined to make this the most entertaining thing that we had ever done on Kauai. The amazing views and history of the island that Josh provided exceeded all expectations. Our photos are gorgeous and the DVD will allow us to relive this incredible adventure.

“Thought we knew Kauai but.........OMG”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

Given the support already on TA, this may seem like piling on but...no problem, lets pile! We have been not quite annual visitors to Kauai for many years and thought we knew the place pretty well. One thing we had never done was a helicopter or fixed wing tour. Should have done it way earlier, and this is definitely the way to do it.

We met Bruce the day before after a long day (his) but he was friendly and enthusiastic. Happy to talk about what WOK had to offer and talk about how that fit in with our hopes and expectations. We signed up for a C172 flight the next day.

Everyone has the same island to display (about which more later.) What was truly wonderful about Bruce, Sherry and the team is that this was a personal thing that, within the limits of what was possible, was the product of getting what we wanted done. I have spent a lot of time flying so I wanted to do a bit of hands on stuff but didn't want to miss all the sightseeing opportunities. No problem. Bruce was happy to fly the airplane when I wanted to sightsee and let me fly when I felt the itch. He is an instructor as well as a tour pilot so he can give a lesson along with the tour if anyone wants that.

Since we had been to Kauai many times, we also didn't need the pitch about "on your right you can see Poipu" etc. but we were very interested in information about places that are hard or impossible to get to on the ground. Bruce had all that at his fingertips along with a lot of fascinating stuff from his days as an agronomist on the island.

Bruce is fully capable of flying the standard tour and giving the standard spiel to first time, non-pilot visitors but he is also comfortable with adapting that baseline approach to whatever the customer actually would like. And that is what is truly neat about WOK. You don't feel like you are a participant in a script someone wrote ages ago and no one can vary from. It's more like a nice plane trip with a friend.

Josh and Sherry are from the same mould. They are friendly, helpful and anxious to do whatever they can to provide a memorable experience. When we got there, they were trying to sort out the larger plane which had booked one couple that was going to be a few minutes late and another who had to get back to their cruise ship immediately after an on time flight. They ended up moving the late couple to the next flight taking the time-constrained couple on a personal tour in the large airplane. A lot of companies would not do that!

In the meantime, Bruce escorted us to our small, "personalized" Cessna and we took off.

The fact that Kauai is one of the world's truly beautiful places was not news to us but the flight allowed us to experience it in an entirely new way. Trails we had hiked were now visible from above, as were dive sites that I had been to many times. It is just amazing to see the reef formations from a different perspective. They are beautiful up close but also beautiful in an entirely different way from 2,000 ft. The Napali coast is spectacular from the trail and from the ocean but present a whole new aspect from above (and beside.) Valleys that you basically can't get into at all on the ground are laid out below in awesome splendor. This is an experience not to be missed and that is true if this is your twentieth or your first and only visit to Kauai. We will add the memories to our Kauai databank and cherish them for a long time.

I have not done the helicopter tour so I can't really compare them but I was completely satisfied with the fixed wing experience. That is without regard to the price difference, which I am told is considerable. Since I would gladly have paid twice what we did for the experience, price was not a driver for us. We saw everything that was there to see and did it in the context of a friendly, personalized experience that we will remember with great fondness.

The other 1100 reviewers are dead on!

“Amazing Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

I am not the biggest fan of small planes but our pilot Josh put me at ease and I was amazed at how spectacular the views were. We flew over the whole of Kauai seeing whales, canyons and waterfalls. We also flew over our cruise ship which was a spectacular sight. We purchased the DVD which is of really good quality and a constant reminder of our wonderful trip. We would not hesitate to recommend Wings over Kauai as they are also excellent value for money.
