“Good, pricey”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2014

We went to Duke's in Waikiki and here as well, this one seemed a little more reasonably priced with slightly better food and a nice location. I go the ahi for appetizer and it was awesome, my husband had steak one night and fish the next and both were great. I really don't think you can go wrong. Only 4 stars because of the prices. It's a little silly to pay nearly $30 for shrimp scampi.

“Island Dining”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2014

We ate downstairs twice and upstairs once. It's a great location and fun place to eat while visiting Lihue -- although we met some locals who were definite regulars. You get a true tiki restaurant experience in a beautiful beachfront setting. Nice salad bar upstairs and while it's busy, you are never rushed. Downstairs for last meal of the trip I changed from my usual fish to try a stir fry chicken cashew. It was very good. I wasn't shocked by the prices, and there are some good mid-range choices downstairs. Family friendly. Well work the visit.

“Great View and Good Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2014

I love dining at Dukes! Upstairs-The salad bar is great ! It's best to make a reservation. Go early so you can request to sit close to the beach for the gourgeous view. Downstairs is great too! The food is great and so is the view and sometimes they even have live musicians. Not to mention free valet parking. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

“Good food and view, downstairs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2014

We ate downstairs since hubby wanted the ribs. You can also order from the upstairs menu, it just means you climb the stairs to get to their wonderful salad bar.

The view is beautiful (before sunset), the trees and water of the Marriott are not illuminated very well at night. Remember if you are comint to this restaurant it is better to park nexttot he restaurant versus parking at the Marriott and hoofing it though the massive resort complex.

The other negative is that is music is on 'island time', we came for the 8:30 set and left at 9:15 when the set up was still in process....

Our most expensive dish was the macadamia nut seafood pesto ($26), tasted better when reheated. don't forget the hula pie.

“Gorgeous meal at Dukes!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2014 via mobile

Best 40th birthday ever! I brought my 3 best girlfriends with me to celebrate the big 40! Dukes in Lihue, Kauai is nestled in this beautiful cove. The scenery is breathtaking! It's also very peaceful with gentle waves and tiki torches. There is a coconut hanging to help you with the weather while you wait for a table with a drink in hand. The restaurant is more than one level with a cascading indoor garden and waterfall walking you from one level to the next. This is definitely one of the prettiest restaurants I've dined in and one of the prettiest Dukes I've been in. The waitress was a blast and let us truly enjoy the night of laughter, aging, and friends. I have always had fantastic food at Dukes whether in Oahu or Kauai or any other island. We always seek out Dukes for a good time and great food. You won't be disappointed here.
