“Dukes is a MUST when on Kauai!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2013

This place is awesome! Atmosphere is phenomenal from the bar to the upstairs dining everything is perfect. Ate here several times and enjoyed everything. Great lunch menu and really great dinner menu with huge salad bar and great staff. The place gets a little busy in the evenings but after eating there you understand why! You have to try the HUGE piece of Hula Pie they serve.

“Kauai vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2013

We went hear on our first night after traveling over 17 hours from the East Coast. It was amazing. The Mai Tais are among the best on the island and the fresh fish and salad bar were outstanding. We ate here 3 times while on Kauai. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place. Beautiful garden, koi pond and open air dining.

“Tuesday Happy Hour Special”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2013

We enjoy going down to Dukes on Tuesdays to enjoy the $3 fish tacos during Happy Hour. This special is only on Tuesdays however.
The fish is a large piece about as round as sushi and is so good with the Pacifico to wash it down with.
My wife loves the Fish and Chips, even if it isn't one of the specials, it is really good.
One note to the wise... Be there around 4:30 or 4:45 to get a table. Most Tuesdays it is jammed.

“The Place to Hang Your Hat.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2013

Spent 1 week in Kauai, about 30 minutes from Lihue, but we ended up at Duke's almost daily. Tried a whole host of other places around the Island, but we hung our hat here. Out front is the beach and a great place to spend the day. Typically we would arrive at happy hour and get smaller portions of items off their menu at a lower price. The girls I was with enjoyed their cocktails, while I enjoyed the local beer. Food was great. Kids welcome. Never tried the salad bar, but is supposedly famous. Next door is the Marriott Hotel so have a lot of variety of people coming through. It can get busy at times, but the wait is fine, especially if you can get seating near the entry/bar, as it is all open air. At night they light the torches and it creates a great ambiance. The service was always good.

“Dine because it is convenient....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013

When staying in Lihue on the island of Kauai there aren't many places to eat. So Duke's is convenient. There is an upstairs which is the more expensive restaurant, and there is the downstairs which is the Canoe Club bar and casual dining.
The Canoe Club is eye level to the beach so it is nice to listen to the waves, have a drink or casual bits. The food is OK.. the drinks are tropical, but the fact that you are in Hawaii makes up for it all.
The signature Hula Pie for dessert is a must so go light on the apps, and save room for dessert.
They don't take reservations downstairs so there is usually a wait because of the lack of other options.
