“Best hotel of our vacation!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2014

We stayed at the Kauai Beach Resort for 7 nights ending February 4, 2014. We had looked at pictures on the internet, but the resort was nicer than the pictures. Building and grounds were immaculately maintained. Staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the food at all three places on the property, Naupaka Terrace, Shutters Bar, and the pool side bar & grill. The hotel is only ten minutes from Lihue airport and central to travel on the islands highways. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Kauai!

I have been coming to Hawaii for many years and have stayed in many different hotels, but this hotel was the best priced hotel I have ever stayed at in Hawaii. I read the negative reviews before coming here and I real don't see it, maybe people thought it was the St Regis. The complaint about the beach is correct so if you want a great beach stay in Poipu, Princeville doesn't even have that many inhabitable beaches either. The food not good and expensive, well it is Hawaii and it is a resort so it will be expensive. We had the salad bar one night and it was great, I found the food very good and yes a little expensive but if you want something Kapaa and Lihue are 5-10 minutes away. The rooms I found to be very clean and modern, the TV had a little issue but I don't come to Hawaii to watch TV. The parking is an issue later in the evening but I just used valet, it cost me a couple a bucks each time for tips but these valets I had to chase down to tip them. The staff was top notch, i have stayed at many hotels and paid a lot more money and didn't get half the service I did here.I will stay here again and will reccomend this place to everyone that comes to Kauai!!! GREAT JOB KBR!!!

I visited the Kauai Beach Resort with my son, who is a resident of Oahu. We were mostly interested in the hiking and other outdoor activities available on the island, so we didn't spend a lot of time at the resort. Our room was large and comfortable and everything was in working order. Being on the second floor did NOT save us from the wake-up chicken calls, but at least they didn't start up as early as they do in other places. We found the food at this hotel very disappointing and over-priced, and didn't eat there after the first day. The pool and grounds here are pretty, but, as mentioned by other reviewers, there really isn't much of a beach.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the pool are the best. Locate other restaurants in the area so you don't have to ea...

Aloha and thank you for your review of the Kauai Beach Resort. We are delighted that you found the resort to be beautiful and in a convenient location to the airport. We appreciate your feedback on our food and beverage outlets and we will address your concerns with the resort manager. We do apologize for any inconvenience you experienced. With respect to the beach fronting the resort, we do not recommend our guests to swim in this area as it can be rough with the currents, however, the three-mile stretch north of the beach is excellent for strolling and swimming. We look forward to your return visit in the not too distant future. Mahalo!

We visited Kauai in late January 2014 and stayed three nights at this hotel finding the hotel and grounds to be wonderful but our experience wasn't as wonderful. As with most hotels in Hawaii the Kauai Beach Resort abused us with charges for parking and using the amenities that were already paid for in the room rates. We paid extra so we could park our car on a dirt lot filled with deep pot holes causing the car to be always filthy. We were compensated for one night as there was a show in the hotel that forced us to use that lot but it happened other nights as well. Our "garden mountain view room was actually a view of the roof and wall that surrounds the roof and then another wall with the tops of mountains above that.
Our TV's sound screeched and faded out and eventually the TV wouldn't work. A fellow came to fix it and said that "the system just does this." They charge to use the internet in the rooms and in their business center.
The restaurant was nice but the prices were prohibitive so we ate elsewhere.
The pools and pool areas were fantastic and they needed to be as the beach, while beautiful, was too rocky to swim safely.
This could be the perfect place to base a Kauai vacation but the parking issues need to be addressed quickly, the room rates should reflect the real views, food should be affordable, televisions should work, internet should be included, and valet service shouldn't be forced upon guests who don't want it.

Aloha and thank you for your review of the Kauai Beach Resort. We are delighted that you found the resort to be beautiful and that you enjoyed our facilities. We do however, apologize for any inconvenience you experienced with the self-parking area. We do have ample parking under the structure and perhaps there was an event happening at the hotel that caused you to park in the gravel area. We do appreciate your feedback and we hope to have the pleasure of your return visit in the not too distant future. Mahalo!

We stayed here for 8 nights. Great stay. Awesome view from our room, we had an ocean front. Never heard our neighbors. I was whale watching from my lanai, every morning. :) Rooms were clean and beds were very comfy. Lots of pools and lots of chairs. Breakfast was great. We would stay here again, but rent a car. The only 1 thing wrong with this place is the internet service in the lobby was horrible. First thing in the morning you could get NOTHING! This time of age would would think they would look into a better server.

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms better views. Building 4

Stayed for a few nights and the hotel was the least impressive of all of Kauai's offerings. (Absolutely loved: the coconut stands, hikes, beaches outside of the resort, plane tours, mom and pop eateries - amazing). The grounds of the hotel are beautiful starting from the long tree lined entrance, to the mulitple pools and waterfalls. The beach is only for looking, as it is very rocky and dirty. We enjoyed the firepits and hotubs in the evenings. The room was lacking, old tv, minimal bedding, and just getting old-ish all around. The first day, our shower wouldn't turn off, and after trying with all my might to turn off the water, had to call hotel staff to come by and give it a very good whack! Also, when we checked in, and made our way to our room, the cleaning staff had just started to clean up and we had to drop our luggage and come back. Not a big deal since we were just coming in from Oahu, but would've been a big thumbs down if we had just landed from the mainland. There are many other gorgeous hotels all over Kauai, but stay here for the rate and convenience to the airport. Also, don't stay on the ground floor if you can't deal with intense rooster crows right outside your window!

Good clean rooms, nice bars, good food and good grounds. Seven of us all enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return.
Only negatives are that you need a car and the beach is no good for swimming (at least when we were there).

Aloha and thank you for your review of the Kauai Beach Resort. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your visit with us and found resort met your expectations. The beach area fronting the resort can be rough with changing weather and tides, however, just north of our location is a three-mile stretch of sandy coastline and swimmable areas.
