“Highly recommend staying here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013 via mobile

Beautiful premises and friendly staff await you when you arrive. Pool area superb for kids and adults. Assuming you rent a car while on Kauai for an extra $3 a day get the valet parking. They run to get your car you don't even need to call down first. Kudos to Chelsey at the front desk and Deslyn at the pool for being the friendliest folks I have met at any hotel ever.

We spent 6 nights at this lovely resort in an ocean front room. We had hoped to spend down time sitting on our balcony, unfortunately the weather did not cooperate. It was extremely windy and also overcast while we were there. Our room was comfortable and quiet. My only negative would be that the decorative pillows had been well used and had a very distinct odor, but we just put them out of site and smell.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Checking in and out went quickly and smoothly.
The grounds were beautiful and well maintained.

On several nights we opted for a light supper and went to Shutters in the resort for a sandwich. Service was great and food very good. We found the breakfast to be expensive so we opted for take out from the coffee shop. Wi fi was free in the lobby and it was comfortable sitting there when needed.
We enjoyed our accomodations, just wish the weather had been calmer.

Aloha and thank you for your review of your recent stay at the Kauai Beach Resort. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your visit with us and that you found the resort to be beautiful and the accommodations clean and comfortable. We appreciate you letting us know of your concerns with the guestroom accessories and will address those with our Housekeeping Department. We apologize for the inclement weather you experienced during the time you were here, it is certainly not the norm and it was a statewide storm that brought unusally high winds to the islands. We hope that we will have the pleasure of your return visit to the beautiful Garden Island in the near future. Mahalo!

The water was cold, no way to swim laps in circular pool, no lines. If you're not a sun worshipper, forget about Kauai anyway. The pictures of the fitness room were deceiving since the trip with the mirrors showed a large facility. One bike, one tempermental treadmill, One broken treadmill, not much except free weights really.

Room Tip: The rooms were old, but clean. We kept turning the heat up, but found we were increasing the air co...

My husband and I stayed at the Kauai Beach Hotel for the first 4 nights of our honeymoon and loved every minute!

Checking in was fast and easy and they provided us with a complmentary bottle of sparkling in our room.

All the staff were friendly and always smiling. We had great experiences with recpetion, consierge, bar staff and the resturant staff.

Parking is readily avaliable for about $14.00 per night and we never had an issue finding a car space.

The resturant food was lovely and the staff in their really took pride in their work.

Plenty of pools and spa's althought these were a little cold so we didn't swim very much at all.

All in all a great experience at the Kauai Beach Resort!

The resort & grounds are maintained very nicely. It is obvious the property is a tad outdated, however, and though the maids work & clean very hard = the walls, windows, areas around tubs & showers, and doors are not cleaned. Several stains on our bathroom door .....
The staff of the resort is excellent. Every time a guest eats in the main dining room, they are asked to fill out an immediate survey on the service = terrific idea on the part of management = keeps the wait staff on their toes!
A "veteran" employee manning the front desk, was clearly impatient from time/time, with the many lines & crowds that form for check-in/check-out. However, all of the other ladies were exceptionally friendly & were delightful. If possible, ask to work with Ms. Ku'ulei Kaho = VERY efficient under all circumstances, gracious, and very kind to all guests whether it is slow or when busy. Ms. Kaho epitomizes Hawaiian grace & culture.
The beach is just "OK" to walk; no swimming, too rocky. Rather dirty, too, with debris. The grounds are gorgeous = but 0 activities on the premises for Kids and/or adults. This is the property's way of "ushering" you into costly, extra sign-on trips/activities = all of which are extra $$$. The pools are lovely = well manned. Perhaps the dining room needs a few more 2013-style, lighter breakfasts. Too heavy & too $$$. Main dining room is expensive for both breakfast & dinner, but is very comfortable with good staff.

Room Tip: The further you reserve a room away from the ocean = the less your cost. Don't pay extra for an...

Took a chance with Hot wire and they chose this hotel. Room had been a garden view, but I called the hotel and upgraded to ocean view based on reviews I read on TripAdvisor .Been to the island 5X and this was the best hotel yet. Grounds and facility were immaculate and staff very friendly and helpful. Room was excellent and everything worked properly. Good food ($$$) and entertainment and plenty of help onsite with planning activities. Self parking charge of $13.95 daily seemed high but at least it was covered. Recommend an ocean view on 4th or 5th floor (actually took this recommendation from another reviewer and it paid off) and you won't regret paying extra for this.
The only negative of this experience was the number of roosters on the property that started crowing around 4 AM and kept us from having a full nights sleep. To dampen the noise, we were forced to close our sliding glass door at night, which took away from the sounds of the ocean and the breeze, and wear ear plugs. Never had this problem before with our other visits to area hotels. I am not sure if they could be relocated away from the property since they are a nuisance in the early morning, perhaps the hotel will address this in the future.

Room Tip: Main building,4th or 5th floor, ocean view, will knock your socks off!!! You also overlook the beau...

Aloha and thank you for choosing the Kauai Beach Resort to spend your special anniversary with us. We are delighted that you found our resort to be well maintained and that our accommodations and services exceeded your expectations. We do apologize for the early morning roosters near the location of your guestroom. Rest assured, we make every effort to control their popularity around the resort and we will notify our maintenance department of your concerns. Again, we appreciate your feedback and we look forward to your return visit in the very near future. Mahalo!

I spent a week at the Kauai Beach Resort in early March 2013. I was traveling alone and I am in a wheelchair most of the time so I was worried about being able to get around the resort. It turns out I had nothing to fear! The staff and even the guests at the resort were all extremely kind and helpful. The security staff was on call to help me get to wherever I wanted to go! There wasn't a single person who ignored me when I was struggling up an incline or ramp - I was always asked if I needed assistance and people went out of their way to help me! Aloha spirit, for sure!

The resort was beautiful, the grounds well kept, and the restaurants convenient. My room was a little musty smelling but a) Hawaii is humid, and b) it was right across from the laundry, so I didn't mind too much. I opened the sliding glass door and everything was okay. The restaurants and room service were a little expensive, but again, it's a resort, you've got to expect that. The beach isn't for swimming, but I didn't want to swim so I didn't mind that either. I didn't see the "muddy field" everyone kept talking about for parking, but I did see a new parking lot so that issue must have been resolved.

The one very major problem I had was there was no cell phone reception in my room! I had to sit out on the edge of the lanai to get cell phone reception and then everyone could hear my conversations. I don't know if it's like that in the rest of the resort rooms but in my room (1106 - disabled room with roll-in shower) it was awful.

Other than having no reception, I was so happy with my stay at the Kauai Beach Resort and I would go again in a heartbeat! In fact, I think that's where I'd like to stay for next year's vacation. :)
