“Nice hotel great views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012 via mobile

This is a nice hotel in a great part of Kauai. Super pools, views, friendly staff. The pool bar is more expensive than other hotels in the area we have stayed at but convenient. Overall we will come again and its worth a visit!

“Disappointed by their customer management”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

We booked for our honeymoon a 2 nights stay in the Kauai Beach Resort trough their web site (http://www.kauaibeachresorthawaii.com/). They took a deposit of 1 night on my credit card to guarantee the reservations.

When we arrived at the resort, there was no trace of our reservations into their system. Fortunatly I had a paper copy of my reservation confirmation email. But when we checked out, even if I showed at the reception team that they already took one night deposit, they obliged me to pay for the 2 nights stay. I sent an email to the Kauai Beach Resort to explain the situation and complain about this overpayment on october 28th, then again today on November 5th. No answer back so far.

Their customer relationship management is quite poor on this kind of problems. They are good at widthdraw you money but poor in understanding what they made wrong.

“All around excellent value for honeymoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

We spent our honeymoon in Kauai and did not regret it at all. KBR was an excellent place to stay overall and despite some minor flaws did not disappoint.

PROS:

Location, location, location - This is a perfect home base for seeing all the island. If you're staying in the North end, it's a pain to get around everywhere. We drove up there one day and found the roads (one lane bridges) and whatnot to be more congested and less accessible than being central in Lihue.

Value - excellent value. You get a solid hotel without breaking the bank. You can't expect everything but overall the value is clearly evident. Rooms were nicely furnished and very good overall. Room keys did not give us issue contrary to what others mentioned. Good housekeeping, they kept away from your items and worked around them. Highly recommend to do a breakfast plan if available. I believe we paid an extra $10 per day for breakfast for two which was a screaming hot deal (the hot buffet was $20 EACH for those who didn't have a plan). Some meat/starch items were rotated around to ensure some variation. Made it easier to start the day off right! Restaurant for evening dining is great as well - we were full and the food was very good. Well run hotel overall.

Outdoor amenities - the pool area is fantastic! Waterfall effect, multiple pools, and a sand-pool with waterslide. Two hot tubs. The grounds and pool area were regularly maintained and kept immaculate. Forget how old you are - make sure you try the waterslide. Laying down, it went super fast and was a blast for me. A man in his 30's watersliding a half-dozen times - priceless.

CONS

Parking - the parking was not too far away contrary to what others indicated (maybe 100-200m to main door) but they were doing construction in the parking lot and some nights it was tough to find space (they didn't tow us away one night for "making our own" stall). Their $13 self-park and $16 valet are likely unavoidable if you're wanting to explore the whole island. Tip to save you a few minutes - walk in the side door by the ramp which leads into the coffee shop - much faster!

Staff - as with many hotels, it is hit and miss. Some seemed irritated to help you, while others are fantastic. We interacted with a few dozen associates and only a handful were sub-par. I faxed a letter to the hotel indicating it was our honeymoon and they graciously offered us champagne (great pre-vacation experience). I believe they also upgraded our room as it was one of the nicest views, but that made complications later with getting our breakfast vouchers (they give you one each for every day of your stay, so we had 14 vouchers and they included service fees/grat - we gave a smaller tip anyways) and champagne. Glad I was able to sort it out.

Room safe - was not functional during our stay. The hotel's age and wear/tear in certain areas show if you're really nitpicky. This was not a dealbreaker for us.

Room Tip: - Get at least pool view or oceanview. 2420 was our room (note room safe not functional) - Breakfas...

“Perfect location and beautiful property”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

The first thing you notice is just how friendly the staff is.Right from check in i felt like i could ask them anything at anytime. The hotel itself is awesome, I really liked the lay out of the property. The pool area was nice but the beach was where we hung out the most. The beach was fantastic to walk especially at sunrise.
It was extremely convient to be able to book all our day trips or activities right in the hotel lobby.
Our ground floor room overlooked the pool and beach area,i recommend you request building four , secound or third floor for better views.
I felt the the food prices were alittle pricey, however the breakfast buffet was good value and the food was excellent. Well except for the pool side bar that is, don't order the nacho's!
We booked our room with parking(10 bucks a night more)and self parked our car so we didn't have to worry about valet parking delays. We will defineatly stay here again and i have no problem recommending this hotel.

Room Tip: Request secound or third floor rooms in building 3 or 4 for better views

“Wonderful Kauai”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

The hospitality of the Islands is ever present at the Kauai Beach Resort. Careful attention to needs, helpfulness at giving directions and suggestions were really appreciated. Finding our room did not not have a good beach view, they arranged for us to be changed to a better view. It was peaceful, restful and restorative -- just what the doctor ordered. Will return again. Mahalo!

Room Tip: No elevators, but stairs are not steep.
