My wife and I arrived at 11:00 in the morning to the Kauai Lagoons, and were immediately amazed by the beauty of the grounds of this property. We checked in immediately, which was a quick process with a very friendly staff though because we were there so early our room was not yet ready, which was completely understandable. At 2:00 pm, a whole 2 hours before checkin time, we were called and notified our room was now available and off to the room we were.
The rooms were truly amazing. The patio door is an accordion style full glass door which opens up onto a very large patio. We did have a 3-bedroom, so our patio was also a little larger than the 2-bedroom rooms. The living room was a great size as was the dining portion of the room. the kitchen was filled with state of the art appliances that were all stainless steel. The first and second bedrooms were connected to the dining/living/kitchen room as was bathroom number 2. Bathroom number 1, which was the master bathroom was connected to the master bedroom. The third bedroom was accessed by walking down a long hallway and past the laundry room, where bathroom number 3 and bedroom number 3 were located. For this bedroom, it was a rather private layout.
The grounds to the hotel were very nicely manicured and equipped with 2 fire pits and several gas grills, that were used quite a bit during our stay. The hotel also has a nice 2-level pool, although it was a little small, and an oversized hot tub.
The only reason I gave the hotel 4 instead of 5 stars is the lack of other amenities. There was a market place, but it was much smaller and had less selection than other Marriott timeshare properties. There was also no other way to get food, no restaurant, bar or anything else. They also did not have bell service, which I generally use to help with luggage. There was not a business center or computers to print your boarding passes, just not a lot of other amenities that one would expect. You also cannot use the amenities at the Marriott next door for free, which I found a tad strange, and my wife and I paid $100 for a day pass to use their facilities.
If you can get past the limited amenities, this is a terrific place to stay. The staff is friendly, the rooms are amazing, and you really cannot go wrong staying here.
