“Amazing views/staff but lacking a few things”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2014

My family booked a 2 bedroom ocean front suite. The lobby and grounds are beautiful and well maintained. You really feel like you are in paradise. The property is on a small cliff by the ocean. So you get amazing unobstructed views from just about everywhere. There are trails that lead down to the beach (it's rocky, but nice), grills and a pool. The pool wasn't quite as big as I was expecting. The Marriott hotel, which is also on the property, has a huge pool and thought the lagoons would as well. It's smaller but still nice.

The biggest negative to the lagoons is the lack of shopping and food options on site. They have a small snack store, but if you are looking for anything more, you need to take the bus over to the Marriott hotel. The hotel has all the restaurants and several shops. The is a shuttle that will bring you back and forth from the lagoons and hotel (takes about 5 to 10 minutes). But since the lagoons are more isolated, it would be nice if there was something over there.

The room was amazing! When we walked in and saw the view, we were all speechless. The room was beautiful! It had a nice big kitchen and dining table. The back wall was one big sliding door to allow the breeze it. The master bedroom was spacious with a beautiful master bath. The 2nd bedroom was nice, but small. It only has 1 queen size. So if you have a family of 4, 2 people will need to share the 2nd bedroom. If you are a family of 5, like we were, someone will end up on the couch in the main living room (which might not be so bad when you can sleep with the doors to the ocean open). The second bathroom is shared between the 2nd bedroom and the living area. So everyone has access to a bathroom without necessarily being in a bedroom.

The staff was just incredible. A few of us got sick during the trip. Our cleaning ladies took such great care of us, bringing new towels and supplies. They cleaned everything. They even picked up some gatorades from the front counter for us.

Overall, I highly recommend staying here!

Unfortunately we were victims of a rental home scam - long story. Luckily we found out 3 days before departure and I was able to secure a reservation for our party at the Marriott Lagoons. Once we arrived, we able to upgrade to an oceanfront villa. This place was amazing - beautiful view, not too crowded, very nice facilities and amenities. Staff was awesome. We were there Christmas week and considering the disaster this vacation could have been, we were so thankful that things worked out like they did. We would absolutely book there again.

We appreciated being a bit away from the crowds at the hotel. Some people may not like that there is no restaurant here or no direct beach access. There is also a bit of aircraft noise but we thought the tradeoffs were well worth it.

Room Tip: If you can, go for the oceanfront. In my opinion, worth the extra money.

The staff is outstanding. The accommodations are wonderful. Only downside was no tiki bar or other eating establishments on site, you had to take the shuttle over to the other Marriott. The grounds were wonderful. We had a late flight out and they allowed us to use everything on site during the day and then had the shuttle take us to the airport at 8PM.

Room Tip: We had a 2 bedroom and it was wonderful. Everything there that you could every need. Everything wa...

This is an awesome place to stay! We stayed here as part of a time share exchange. Having never been to Kauai before, we found this location to be very accommodating for being able to see all of the attractions that Kauai has to offer. Plenty of room in a luxuriously furnished 2 bedroom condo. The view of the Lagoons Golf Course and Kalapaki Bay was outstanding! It is located very close to the Airport, making for easy access. Marriott hits another Home Run!

This was a time share exchange for us. My wife and I arrived late in the evening and with the time change it was about 2:00 A.M. our time. We hadn't slept on the plane. We picked up our rental car at the airport and with our GPS headed for Kauai Lagoons. We did have to ask directions along the way but it was from Marriott employees. All were friendly and helpful! The front desk ladies were great and we were in our room in very short order! We did luck out with a very nice 2 Bedroom which, I'm certain, had one of the better views. I'm sure all have very nice views! We enjoyed the view in the moon light and didn't go to bed until after 4:00 A.M. our time. (I'm in my late sixties!) In the morning we saw a Cruise ship go by and then Coast Guard Helicopters and a Police Comand Post was setup close enough that you could see it from the patio of the room. We found out later, unfortunately, that a local person was lost at sea.
Our Son and his wife joined us, for a couple of days. They were impressed with the Unit and the view as well as the overall grounds. There always seemed to be something going on, in the bay, to watch. We have always been impressed with Marriott's and just know:"If it is a Marriott's, it is going to be great!" This was!

We stayed in a two bedroom villa with a great view of the Lagoons Golf Course and Kalapaki Bay. As a previous reviewer mentioned, this is the old Kalanipu'u Resort. Because this was a Grand Residence it is more for residential living with its own work-out facility, activity room, parking lot and small pool. While there is no beach, restaurant or bar, we could eat at the Kauai Beach Club and sit at the beach there. Using the free shuttle service between resorts is easy but not as convenient as staying on the beach. Loved the kitchen, dinning area and large laundry room. The staff were very nice and helpful. We usually stay at the Kauai Beach Club but will consider using this resort again.

Just got back from a week's stay at the Kauai Lagoons. Stayed in a 3 bedroom villa with family. The room was outstanding. 3 bedrooms with amazing beds, a full kitchen that was pretty well equipped and 3 baths. The cleaning service was excellent with clean beach towels daily, dishes done and everything in order. The Nicklaus golf course was really great right on the property with 3 holes along the cliffs on the coast that are the prettiest you will play. They could improve the resort with a bar, better and more affordable wine and sundries it their store and a more consistent meet and greet night that was fairly cheesy. All of the employees were very helpful, knowledgable and seemed to really care. Tip, do not rent snorkel or boards next to Dukes. Walk 50 yards to the the rental place on the highway and you will pay 25% less. Or go to one of the Snorkel Bobs locations.

Room Tip: Don't pay for an Ocean View. You will not be on the room enough to warrant the extra expense.
