The first goood thing about this tour is your tour guides grew up on the island so you feel like they actually know what they are talking about. One tour we went on had 2 mainland girls in their 20's spouting off info that was not learned first hand. That won't happen here. Josh and Mana were our tour guides. We did the Train/Hike/Orchard tour. The train is nice and big and it's open car so you can enjoy the fresh Kauai air. You get to take aride through half the plantation with a narration of all the plants you are seeing before you get dropped off to feed the animals in a livestock pen. There are pigs, goats, chicken and sheep. My son really enjoyed this portion of the trip. Once you are done feeding the animals your hike begins. I wanted to hike while on the island but didn't want to do anything extreme and this was perfect. It tired out a couple of the older folks on the tour but it was great for my son, my husband and I. My recommendation is to take the bug spray when they offer it and don't be stingy. I left with about 10 bites. so the hike down into the forest is beautiful. You get to see so many different kinds of plants and trees it's beautiful and amazing. Josh picked a Papaya Passion fruit on the way down and let us try it and it was one of the best fruits I ever tasted. We took a different way up than we came down which was nice so we could see different plants. after the hike was lunch time. They had turkey rolls (the kind with cream cheese) chips, carrots and Kauai Kookie along with a fresh pineappple picked especially for us earlier that morning from right on the farm. After lunch we went to the orchards and picked all the fresh fruit we could eat off the trees to sample. If it was in season and reachable it was fair game. We had Lychee, Longan, Some Valencia Midnight Oranges, a blood orange, a juicy pink guava, and the most amazing mango ever so juicy and sweet. After that we boarded the train again and headed back while the driver narrated what was on the rest of the farm. Afterward we went rum tasting and brought home a bottle of rum punch along with some fresh fruit they let us take. You will not be disappointed if you book this activity.
